ALERT: Possible scammer G_Dan
G_Dan is possibly a scammer
This member has aggressively private messaged me about emailing another (supposed) member to buy pens. They are very pushy when I did not respond. It feels like this person is trying to pull me off of fpgeeks to make a deal.
Proceed with caution. My spidey sense is very tingly.
Re: ALERT: Possible scammer G_Dan
"g_dan" is a newly registered member with no posts. It's worth knowing to never respond to any brand new, non-posting members who PM you about buying anything on here. The possibility of a scam is relatively high in those cases.
The way to report someone who deliberately doesn't post, so that you can't merely press the report button, is to find them in the Members List under the Community tab, then copy the link that appears when you click on their name and paste that after pressing the Contact Us button at the bottom of the page. FYI g_dan appears near to the end of the "g" listings due to the underscore in his avatar.
I don't remember but it may also be possible to report a PM if they make contact with you.
Re: ALERT: Possible scammer G_Dan
I reported g_dan previously. On the day they joined FPG they PMed me in response to a WTB post I made months ago. Miraculously , and in broken /odd grammar they had a rare pen I was looking for. Outside contact for buying it, of course.
Definitely a scammer.

Yes, you can Report a Private Message.
- Open the private Message.
- On the bottom left of the PM is a very small triangle with an exclamation point in the center. That's the report button,
- Click the button, and fill out the memo about why you are reporting the user.

Re: ALERT: Possible scammer G_Dan
I got a message/notification from this guy about my WTB listing. My spidey sense went off, too. Something just felt wrong. I didn't bother to respond, haven't seen anything further in my PMs, though.
Duly reported
Re: ALERT: Possible scammer G_Dan
I reported him too, roughly a week ago
Re: ALERT: Possible scammer G_Dan
Hi, I got one in response to my WTB, he sent me the email for a user I recognized from FPN. I did my due diligence and all is well. I am new here but use the same moniker on FPN, you can check me out there.
Re: ALERT: Possible scammer G_Dan
I wish the admin would sort this out sooner rather than later. :(
Re: ALERT: Possible scammer G_Dan
Thanks everyone for adding to the post. If we work together, we can keep this wonderful community scammer free.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with you on this. The PM I received from g_dan was too contrived, badly mangled in terms of coherence. But the real kicker was that the day g_dan joined FPG, they referred me to an outside seller that miraculously had a pen that is extremely hard to find...and evidently had the same luck with a number of other FPG member's WTB. WAY too much coincidence here.
Re: ALERT: Possible scammer G_Dan
G_Dan sent me exact same form letter to 3 different unrelated postings. Then he kept emailing me “Hello?”when I ignored him. Thankfully G_Dan is a low level moron and not the brightest crayon in the box.

I'm sure I can confirm that dougb1426 is correct here.
It's long been a very common scam tactic here on FPG for scammers to send PM's to all new or newish members, who put up WTB ads, saying they have the item and you have to email someone. Then they have your email address for the next part of the scam. My advice is: Never Reply. Unless you want to give your email address to a scammer: Never Reply!
Re: ALERT: Possible scammer G_Dan
Quite right, I am mistaken, I checked out what the others said, my mistake. Sorry for the confusion!
Re: ALERT: Possible scammer G_Dan
I received a similar PM from g_dan, and then a couple of follow ups. I have taken the liberty of posting it here (with the email partially obscured):

Please be sure to send a "SPAMMER" report to the admin by pressing the exclamation mark triangle on the bottom left of the PM
Re: ALERT: Possible scammer G_Dan
The same person sent me that message! Started to get wary when he said two different users had that same email… emailed the guy and he refused to use g&s… mighty suspicious.

I hope you didn't actually email the guy as opposed to replying by PM. Harvesting email addresses is exactly what these scammers are doing this for.

Thank you. I did that.
