The model name is a little misleading. It isn't a safety pen, just one among the first to have a threaded cap which was regarded as a safety feature at the time.

I believe these eyedropper fillers went into production in 1911 and probably continued to be made at least until 1920.

The sterling silver cap band may well be an addition by a jeweller as I have never been able to find anything similar in Swan adverts. Swans of this size are rare and greatly in demand.

So far as I know that nib was firm but it's quite stubbish, giving line variation that wasy.

It's a Pentax X5 with 1cm macro.

I like British pens, ebonite pens, and big pens with impressive nibs.
