Ink Review: Fountain Pen Revolution Blue-black
Thanks to members' encouragement the genii has been unleashed from the bottle and to that end here is another ink review by this reluctant reviewer ;) I might do a few more; you have been warned!
Here is a really great value ink, that punches above its weight regards performance v. cost, especially when compared to similar inks.

Thank you for an interesting review, migo.
I didn't know this ink, neither that Fountain Pen Revolution did have their own brand.
Glad you got over your reluctance.

This ink looks great and is a terrific value. Any water resistance?
Hope you will do some more reviews.

I think it's a really good ink. A real pleasure to use. Despite having a rainbow of coloured inks in my hoard I'm finding myself increasingly drawn towards bluish/black/grey monotone shades.
TBH I have no idea about water resistance as it's never a consideration for me. But I know its importance for other members, so I'll test it later and report back :-)

Reporting back as promised.
I'm not sure what the expectation is regarding water resistance testing, but I put the paper in a bowl of cold water to soak it, then put it under running cold water for a further 20 secs, then I patted the sheet dry. I'm quite surprised about the legibility of the remaining ink, and how little came off after the initial surface ink washed away. And very little additional ink came off when I patted it dry with a piece of kitchen paper towel.
Suffice to say your masterpiece opus would survive a major coffee spill, if you acted quickly enough to dry it off :-)
On a side note it was interesting to see how the comparison inks survived the test.

Suitable for most pens? Does FPR state what sort of pens it isn't suitable for?
An excellent review. I like your longer swatch of the reviewed ink in between the comparison inks.

Thanks for your positive feedback on my review. It's much appreciated.
You're right to ask about suitability. I was in error, suggesting that it was only suitable for "most" pens. FPR actually states this:
"FPR Fountain Pen Ink is manufactured in the US and is recommended for any of the fountain pens we sell. Each FPR Fountain Pen Ink has a near neutral PH and is safe for any fountain pen".
So it is a benign ink, which accords with my experience so far. It really does clean out of pens very easily & I've had no clogging or nib crud issues. I've used it mainly in demonstrators, ranging from budget Platinum Balance Crystal (Cool), through TWSBIs, and more expensive Sailor and Platinum pens. I've not experienced any issues at all, so far.
Hope this clarification helps.

I didn't know about this ink, so thanks for bringing it to our attention.

THis is awesome
I am waiting to have some expendable cash to buy a couple of those Himalaya pens... and I will order some ink too
PS1: I got the ink and a Himalaya pen (Saffron). great combo
I was a bit taken by surprise by how purple the ink looks when wet, even the bottle seemed more purple than blue but it dries very neutral (Red&Black notebook) and I can see myself using this for everyday writing.
Nice review, and yes I agree with most of it
Re: Ink Review: Fountain Pen Revolution Blue-black
FWIW, I did a quick water-chromatography test in a paper towel.
Lots of purple, and black
The black seems to be water-resistant while the blue and purple are not

Nice review thanks. It is always nice to see a review of lesser known inks.
