USPS limits insurance to $50 to Canada?
So I am trying to figure out if this the USPS official stance or if it was some sort of system error. I was unable to purchase additional insurance for shipping to Canada. I needed $150 of insurance, couldn't get it, so I went to my USPS office. The same thing happened. They could not add the additional insurance even after a supervisor came and tried the transaction. They told me that it is because the contracting country (Canada in this case) would not accept the additional coverage. Has anyone run into this?

USPS TO Canada Post: https://pe.usps.com/text/Imm/ce_003.htm#ep2041503 Click on the links for Insurance for explanations. It appears you picked the wrong service, and the post office should have offered the higher rate alternatives to enable you to buy insurance.
For some destination countries, you have to send it registered mail for additional insurance cover. N.B.: You will need the reinforced gummed tape to cover the box seams for registered mail parcels.
