Does anyone know where I can get a Schaeffer converter with clear plastic or glass? For the life of me I do not understand why they use dark grey glass for their converters as it is difficult to see if the chamber is full or not. Thanks in advance.

I don't think such a thing exists. See http://www.fountainpennetwork.com/fo...fferent-types/
Please be sure when searching you spell Sheaffer correctly, but the Sheaffer piston type converter that is now sometimes sold under the Cross name only comes in one version where the plastic is slightly tinted. Here it is on Amazon UK Sometimes it looks even darker than this in pictures, but in use I've never had a problem seeing the ink level in one.
The only Sheaffer converter has a smoke gray barrel.
I'm only reopening this thread to mention that a Sheaffer twist action converter has turned up for sale on ebay UK today. Here
Just in case someone still needs to find one. :) This version fits most pens except the Legacy (from my own experience) and there may be others that have barrels too short or too thin for it to fit into.
(It's a shame that the thread title is a sp. error but you can't have everything. LOL)
