Inktober 2019 participation?
Hi Folks,
is anybody planning to participate the Inktober 2019 challenge?
My son and I will participate again.
I´ve already created a new thread for our inputs:

I hope many of you will participate :)
Re: Inktober 2019 participation?
I will give it my best shot. :)
Re: Inktober 2019 participation?
Nope. I have bought books that teach sketching and have gone through the exercises and it didn't take. I show one of my sketches to a victim and he/she looks at me kind of wall-eyed and says, ""There is something wrong with this picture but I don't know what it is." I think I keep getting the perspective a little cockeyed.

Practice makes perfect:)
It would be an ideal opportunity to improve your skills.
And it’s just for fun, to enjoy creativity, our pens and inks.
It does not matter how good you are, and you should not be discouraged by a comment of one single person (which might can’t even draw a stick man by himself/herself).
Everybody started with simple things, and sometimes our results look weird, so what...?
And finally it’s art, and who has to judge if your art is good or bad?
There are pieces (from famous artists) which sells for millions and where I think by myself.....”Hmmmm, I think some children in the Kindergarten could do this (and even better) or everybody can do this”
Take a look at this:

Re: Inktober 2019 participation?
Pterodactylus,
Suppose I go into the woods and photograph a bird. I make a black-and-white print of the photograph. Then, on another piece of paper, I draw an outline of that bird and add the title, "Barred Owl" and the date and my name. That would be "art". On a line between those two images would be "sketch". If I made a sketch with detail too close to the photograph, the image would be "illustration", something an artist would sneer at. If there was not enough detail, you could mistake the image for that of a big Screech Owl. You wouldn't know the difference, but I would. So, before I could show you the picture, it would have to please me. After years of making black-and-white photographs with film and chemicals, in dark places at night, that has never happened. Sometime back in 1957 I took up making music. That has turned out way better.

Nope. My "Mouse" circa 1965 is virtually identical to my most recent rendition of "Mouse Redux" circa 2019. I'd hate to cause my technique to become impure by trying to sketch other subjects.

Inktober is prompting me to pick up my pens again, wouldn't miss it!
