Manu Propria Pens - Bamboo, Negoro and Kinsoku Mitateai
A new Bamboo Fountain Pen made from turned material with rings and end pieces "Kinsokumitateai" made from urushi and brass powder to look like solid brass fittings. The section Japanese black-brownish Ebonite, #6 gold nib. The bamboo partially lacquered in "Negoro Nuri" Urushi lacquer.

Oh wow. I am not sure with your last pen - half of me is saying "Whoah there, that's too far from the original feel of the authentic bamboo" and the other half is saying "Wow, there's a long way we've come from the original boring bamboo, what artistry".
And actually I'd quite like to have that pen so I could indulge both of those different feelings every morning :-)
Really lovely. I particularly like the raden/rankaku mix, looks to me like coconut sweeties with little pomegranate seeds on top - very sweet!

the attentive observer can also see at the transition between bamboo and lacquer, how the lacquer was built up

Hey Adit, I've just ordered urushi materials too - maybe we should have a Skype or zoom meeting every so often to keep up with progress!

Sure thing, but it'll be at least a few more months till I can save up for Urushi stuff. Being on a 17 year old's budget doesn't help 😅🙈. But I'm not letting that stop me because I feel Urushi is my kinda thing. If you want, we can surely discuss techniques and stuff.
