Which movie did you last see?
Just, literally ten minutes ago, finished watching Julio Medem's "Vacas"; very much a moviemaker's movie, a simple yet engaging plot and picture, comparable to say "The Seventh Seal".
I like it for it's obvious cultural and stylistic differences to UK and US movies, it has some brutal realism but doesn't dwell on any one particular theme or scene for at all long.
It is markedly not at all predictable and raises some pertinent questions regarding family values, gender dominance, and the priorities of the individual.
Well shot and easy viewing, just don't be a reactionary ;).

Re: Which movie did you last see?
Ramen Heads — a Japanese documentary about ramen chefs. Really good. It made me hungry. Fortunately, I got to go to a great local ramen restaurant afterwards!

Re: Which movie did you last see?
We watched "The Accountant" last night. We both agreed it was better than we thought it would be. :thumb:

Re: Which movie did you last see?
The last film I saw was "Red Sparrow"... reminds me of the old Cold War flicks: the Russians are the sadist/psychotic bad guys and the CIA agents are the really good guys.

Re: Which movie did you last see?
I watched Ex Machina on a flight to China recently. Then day before yesterday I watched Annihilation. Both films directed by Alex Garland (author of The Beach, among other things). The first film I thought was superb, the second was good but flawed. Worth a look.

Re: Which movie did you last see?
The latest new (to me) movie was Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. It was lots of fun. I think the Rock can pull off very good comedic roles.
However, the latest movie, as of last night, is My Neighbour Totoro. I my kids just love that movie.

Re: Which movie did you last see?
I was able to bring a hard drive online with tons of movies on it. I thought it was a goner. My daughters wanted to watch After Earth. That was after we watched Jumanji.
-
Re: Which movie did you last see?
What did you think of After Earth? I put it up next to Battlefield Earth as one of the worst movies ever made. Jaden Smith's acting career peaked with The Pursuit of Happyness, and his father made that film great. Will couldn't save After Earth from Jaden.

Just saw that over the weekend myself! Thought it was pretty good!

I agree. Not the best movie but it was better than Battleship. Lol

Yeah. Battleship was pretty bad. I think the acting was slightly better, but a board game didn't need to become a movie.

Re: Which movie did you last see?
We watched "Life."
We had already seen it on the plane last September, but it's more difficult to concentrate on everything on the tiny screen, when you're being disturbed quite frequently. I have to say that I thought it was better when we watched it last night, and I totally forgot the ending from seeing it on the plane. I think I must have fallen asleep. :)

Re: Which movie did you last see?
"Black Panther"
Which is a very, very good movie, superhero identity non-withstanding.
-
Re: Which movie did you last see?
We watched Atomic Blonde a couple nights ago. I wasn't expecting much. It was better than I expected. Pretty standard spy-based action movie, but the way the story is told is a bit of a break from the usual. Ending was unexpected.

Re: Which movie did you last see?
My son-in-law brought the Blu-ray disc of Black Panther over. I missed it in the theater. It was enjoyable.

Re: Which movie did you last see?
Girl, Interrupted. It's supposed to be a minor classic. I had never seen it, but it was on one of the premium channels yesterday afternoon, and what with the "storm" passing over, it was a stay-indoors-and-watch-movies kind of day.

Re: Which movie did you last see?
Kodachrome, on Netflix.
Ed Harris at his best. Not just about photography.

20th Century Women with Annette Benning. Loved it.
-
Re: Which movie did you last see?
Mission:Impossible Fallout...it was great. I love how he gets dropping information of past people and keeping you updated.

Re: Which movie did you last see?
We watched DC's Justice League a couple nights ago. I will add it to the following list:
Dazed and Confused
Mallrats
Good Will Hunting
Armageddon
Shakespeare in Love
Dogma
Boiler Room
Reindeer Games
Bounce
Pearl Harbor
Changing Lanes
The Sum of All Fears
Daredevil
Gigli
Paycheck
Smokin' Aces
State of Play
The Town
Argo
Gone Girl
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
The Accountant
Every one of these films would be improved by replacing Ben Affleck with someone who can actually act.

Re: Which movie did you last see?
Does Netflix count? If it does...

I actually saw the first Rocky movie at a pre-release press screening in LA, where the studio spokesman correctly predicted it would take best picture. I was a film student at the time.

Re: Which movie did you last see?
The most recent movie I saw was Casablanca. Hadn't seen it in about five years, but it was the first time for my son. He was reluctant to watch it at first, but ended up completely blown away by it.

That is great! Same with me...except I was the son. My dad talked me into listening to a radio show. I didn’t really want to even bother with it. It was called “The Shadow”. I was hooked!

Re: Which movie did you last see?
ELVIS the miniseries. Jonathan Rhys Meyers was outstanding as Elvis. This story stops with the 1968 comeback and does not follow him to the end.
Meyers won a Golden Globe award for his acting; by the end of the flick my 12 yr old had the pelvis thing down perfectly and is working on his own version of Blue Suede Shoes.

The Trouble with Harry, directed by Alfred Hitchcock. I had just recommended it to a UK-based Geek to see autumn foliage in Vermont, and I have the DVD.
Cast includes Shirley MacClaine (her first film), John Forsythe (Bachelor Father and voice in Charlie's Angels), Edmund Gwenn (Miracle on 34th St), Mildred Natwick, Royal Dano and Jerry Mathers (Leave it to Beaver).

Anyone been to see John Wick 3?

Re: Which movie did you last see?
Isle of Dogs. Japanese animation, lots of familiar voices, we all put it on our favorite flick list.
