Coated paper

I have an assortment of writing paper in a letter rack, some sheets must have been there 30 years. I was sorting it out yesterday when I found a few sheets with a coating, feels like around 80 gsm paper but a real sheen to the paper. I tried it out and it sucked the ink out of the pen, really nice to use.

Unfortunatley there wasnt a watermark on the paper. I expect a good independant printer would be able to supply some paper stock and then have it made into a small notebook or with a Midori style.

But..... does anyone know of a notebook that already uses coated paper, the nearest I have seen was Rhodia but the paper I found has a much nicer sheen.

Hmmmm. If it’s more like Rhodia than Rhodia, I cant imagine what it might be. Hoping someone here will know because it sounds interesting!

I have some really nice coated paper that's made by Mnemosyne that seems to fit your description. Maybe not with a real sheen. However mine is in a landscape format and has a margin along the top. I just use it for writing paper anyway.

I have indentified that the paper is 'silk coated paper' originally intended for printing images from color laser printers, much more widely available than I thought including Amazon. I am tempted to make my own notebooks because I dont think I will find something ready made given the purpose of the paper.

I have found it on Amazon, by a company called Color Copy, quite thick at 170 gsm and quite expensive too at $25 for 250 sheets,

Whilst looking for this information I have recalled that I asked a paper company to send some samples, I think that this paper was in the sample set from this company
