Parker 51 Vacumatic threads?
So I’ve been look for a replacement hood for my P51, but I have found that they made different threads for the pen as time went on. Is there anyway to tell if my pen has fine threads? The part I have seen has fine threads. Those are fine threads. The MK III, made much later, has the coarse threads.
What's wrong with the hood you have?

There are some marks on the side like someone tried to smooth something out, but it went horribly, and now it just sort of bothers me. The front of the hood has also been broken off. How can you tell if they are different marks? I was only aware that the Aerometrics were made in mk1, 2, and 3.

What I call the P-51 Mark III was the later 1960's 51, with a clip styled just like the clip on the Parker 61 and the 75. The Mark III barrel is shaved off at the back end, or what would have been the blind-cap end on the 51 Vac. The clutch ring, the ring that fits against the hood and meets the barrel, is a thin single ring. On the earlier P-51, both aerometic and vac, the clutch ring is doubled, with a small piece between the two rings.
(I think that's the Mark III that Ron mentions)

Ah ok, I was confused and thought there were Mklll P-51 vacs.

For the terminology, Tony Fischier's Parker Penography site says that Parker released the Mark III P-51 in 1969, and a Mark IV in the early '70's. Tony has pictures, and he uses some of Ernesto Soler's photos of the Mark III.
