Hi all,
Looking to identify a Parker 75 lined pattern.
From my searching on the interweb I have found the following...
Grosse Côtes 8 parallel grooves.
Filette 16 parallel grooves.
Godron 23 parallel grooves.
Milleraies (thousand lines) 69 parallel grooves (yes, I counted them).
has anyone with knowledge of Parker 75 pattern names seen, or better still, know the pattern name for 30 parallel grooves?

Can you tell me what is printed on the cap band, photography of the reverse side to word PARKER.
Also a photograph of the tassie and the upper part of the arrow clip.
Can you also unscrew the cap - is it the barrel standard France or USA Construction ?
Once you can date it correctly, French or USA it should not be that difficult. ( I take it you have checked back dated Parker catalogues )
I am going to take a quess it is brass construction with 23k gold plate @ 20 microns ( μ ) possibly with YC or YCG printed on the cap band.

I believe my pen is older than the one you show.
It is indeed 20 micron gold plate over brass.
I am aware of 30 line and 40 line P75 pattern but all of those are solid gold, never seen one in gold plate.
Do you know if this pattern had an official Parker name, or was it an early form of Godron, before they settled for 23 lines?

Hi,
This ballpen matches the Godron Fountain pen much better than the 30 line version I have.
I am also aware that the number of "v" grooves on the cap and barrel of P75 ball pens, in most circumstances, do not match.
This must be for visual effect, as the ball pen barrel is of a smaller circumference than the cap, thus the cap grooves would look less dense and not pleasing to the eye.
With that in mind, I am always counting the "v" grooves on the cap.

This is the second of this 23 line type I have had, the other one had the 20 micron stamp but a dished tassie (pictures if needed).
Here is the 30 line pattern showing the difference in sharpness of the ridge crests.

Good, I am glad you understand some elements of pattern design ( surface area differences )
Is your 23 line ballpoint more a block line pattern finish than a V ?
Would like to look photography of the top of the cap tassie looking downwards and the whole cap band ( showing the pattern line finishes ).
No, the grooves are definitely V shaped, whereas the tops of the ridges are flat (exact match to a 23 line Godron fountain pen).Quote:

Last question please.
The dimpled tassie - what is the inner finish, it appears not to be gold plated - is it an insert or a prepared surface to receive a jewel ?
It makes a difference to the dating of it.
The inner finish of the tassie on this pen, is the common gold wash aluminium disc. It's just lost the gold wash.
The opal tassie Milleraies you show is nice, I have one in Imperial pattern.

It would take too long for me to answer the question that you have asked, it is long, complicated and not that straight forward.

During the early French Parker production ( 1967-1975 ), some pens used Arrow Park blanks, LS’s, nibs and patterns along with new French versions.
There are 3 versions of this Godron line design – the V cut , a block cut & a semi circle cut. All made in 1967/8 for about 4/5 years.
I sure that most members are very bored with my technical replies, so I have added a photograph that is worth a look at ( it is a net lift )
Thanks for this discussion. It easy very interesting. I really like the blue Parker in the picture. But I also like the colored sections generally.
A bit off topic but Yorvik, I love those Parker pen rests! Any idea what date they are?
