EFNIR: Platinum Pigment Blue
Extra Fine Nib Ink Review: Platinum Pigment Blue
This is review #217 in my series. Here's the YouTube video:

Post-recording notes: I used my Penmanship, in case of staining. Cleaning was fairly easy, but it did want to clean to the inside of the section. Plan for a pen flush or swab to aid you in a full cleaning. This is that shade of blue that makes me yawn. Apparently I had something (probably glitter from the last ink) stuck in the tines, so it wrote super dry and pale until I flossed the tines, and then wrote how you see it in the review.
I did fade testing on this ink - see below for the image (no fading). The microscope slide was dull as could be, so no picture.
Happy tears of silk worms.
Zoomed in photo (Too pale, possibly too blue (I think it needs a little blurple).)

Scan of Completed Review (This seems to be the closest in color.)

Absorbent Paper Close-up (top is puzzle paper like thick newsprint, bottom is old 20lb copy paper) (Both are too pale.)

Line width (One of the lines used for dry time. Magnification is 100x. The grid is 100x100µm. The scale is 330µm, with eleven divisions of 30µm each. The line width for this ink is roughly 310µm. With 217 inks measured, the average line width is 295µm.)

Water Test Results (This seems to show color the best, particularly the darker, small text explaining the need to floss.)

Lightfastness Test (From 2016, after hanging in a south-facing window for 2 years.)

Re: EFNIR: Platinum Pigment Blue
Thank you LizEF for another fab review. I like this ink a lot and have it as a forever fill for one of my EF Prefountes - I always hope it gives the customs people a bit of a treat after all those forms filled in in boring black. Unusually for its type, it's also rather fun with flex and stubby nibs - and shades more than I expected.
As for the happy silkworms - I almost cried myself...

:D Color and shading! Surely the customs people need all of that they can get. ;)

Great job @LIzEf :thumb:
I loved especially the gentle tone of this episode :) Ironic how the 2 year old text so elegant compared the blupurple text :)

That photo was taken in 2018 or 2019 (don't remember), so not surprising it looks different. Oddly, it looks closest to the scan, which is also the closest to what my eyes see, so I guess that old, more elegant text is closer to what the ink really looks like...
Re: EFNIR: Platinum Pigment Blue
Thank-you for your lovely ink reviews Liz. I especially enjoy the fading test!

Wow. The close-ups make this look like a pale neon purple! Now, even though I am not a big user of purples, that neon-y hue interests me.
Thanks for another great review and serial!

:) Well, note that the scan was the closest to the actual color - not quite as blurple as the other images make it look, but to me, it definitely leans purple.

I don't actually hate ballpoint blue; I find it cheerful. But I steer clear of pigmented inks.
Re: EFNIR: Platinum Pigment Blue
Yeah, this ink “leans” purple like a drunk ink on a bender after getting laid off at the Blue Ink Company and Can’t. Stand. Up. Straight. Good review.

I will gladly give you my share of all the royal blues! :D But I'll refrain from shipping this pigmented in your way - just for you. ;)
