Another sketch with a Sheaffer.
A Sheaffer Crest Touchdown this time.

I'm back to one of my favorite subjects to sketch: rural landscapes. This time featuring a forgotten farmstead whose time-worn look makes it even cooler. In my eyes, at least.
One of the fascinating aspect of sketching is within the process of adding details. In this part, you get to define the story of the subject that you're sketching. This is why I don't need reference pictures or photos for very long, but just enough to give me an idea on the structure and proportions. The rest of the time, I am having fun telling the story in my own way.
Very nice, penwash. And although it may not be the point for you, I appreciate your ability to draw that well in such a small sketchbook (judging from the size of the pen).
That notebook is 5-3/4 x 4 inches.
I gravitate towards sketches that size because I can finish it in one sitting (also probably fits my scatter-brain). Which in turn gave me an opportunity to do version 2 (or sometimes 3) if I don't like how the first one turned out.
My newest fountain pen sketch with line and wash technique.
This is the cropped, re-framed, post-processed, ready to be uploaded to my redbubble shop (looks good as a postcard or greeting card):

This is the original (with the pen):

The pen is a big National Pen. Co. with a "caramelized" cream marble celluloid.

Pelikan Fount India and 4001 Royal Blue...
Despite having the general shape of a sliced-bread loaf, adding interest and age details to this old city tram proved to be quite tricky, but fun.

I was just doodling between taking notes...
The inspiration of today's sketch came from images of vintage medical supplies.
That and an "on a whim" selection of ink: DeAtramentis Sahara Grey.

The old Salz Bros BCHR just got its new nib, part of a bunch of vintage pen parts I got last week.

(...no, not the pen, but asparagus)
This old Universal pen is surprisingly (and uncommonly) in a good condition.

What are the inks for the last two sketches?
I've said it before, but I like your ability to draw that well at that size.
Oh, er, that referred to penwash's drawing in post #351 in this thread.
This is such a gorgeous pen.
Sheaffer's "Fat" touchdowns are deeply underrated (I'm ok with that, it keeps them semi-affordable)
And this Umber colour is so nice.
I have a 3 pc set (pencil, ballpoint (stratowriter) and fountain pen) in Valiant trim.
The cap on the ballpoint is a replacement from an older Umber Sheaffer pen.
This was my first Fat touchdown. I got it about a year ago, now I have 3 (with a nib and cap for a 4th, waiting on a barrel)
Your sketches remind me of how Acoustic Pens used to write with the pen.
His Business Penmanship/Palmer was the model I aspire to.
(I have a LOOOOOONG way to go, i guess it gives me something to strive for)
In both your cases, the pens and photography sell themselves, then sketch/writing sample are just icing on the cake.
I didn't know who Acoustic Pens was, but I found the instagram feed. His penmanship is impeccable!
Sketching has become an integral part for me in this hobby. Even if I stop restoring and selling pens, I'd probably still continue to sketch as long as I am able.
His handwriting is the model i aspire to. I have a great deal of practice ahead of me
I have saved everyone of his posts I’m order to have more examples to try and emulate.
His photography and presentation are also excellent.
Sketching is something i am not good at. I admire those who can do it. I’ve tried. It’s always a worse failure than i can stand to look at and it ends up discouraging me.
Another Instagram account with great photography is paperwantsapen gorgeous pens, great shots.
