Hi,
how big? Here some Swan's compared to a modern Pelikan M2xx and a Lamy2000:
1920's Swan SF 230/60
1930's Swan SM 205/60
1940's Swan 0160
1950's Swan 3220
Pelikan M250
Lamy 2000

Indeed they changed the codes:
This 0160 once followed the practically same L212/60 and was replaced by the steamline 4260...

Unique to my collection now are this handsome Mabie Todd Swan 0160 Leverless pen (UK, c1940s) and an earlier Todd pencil from the US branch. The chatelaine pencil has the loveliest hand engraving pattern.
I am blessed by these objects from the past, and the beautiful people who gifted me with them...
Very nice, Jon.
The pencil is a beauty. :-)
A leverless like this is one of the best Swan's, fantastic nibs, nice understated look, great balance...
Enjoy and best wishes

I have a few Swan Pens. Here is one.
Re: Swan Mabie Todd Pens.
You've got a very nice example!
Re: Swan Mabie Todd Pens.
I'm going next week to see a Swan Mabie Todd self filler fountain pen, model SF2, in red ripple body and with a 14ct gold number 2 nib. Asking price is £95, what should I look for? I don't have any experience with semi-flex nibs.
Re: Swan Mabie Todd Pens.
The SF2 is a fairly delicate pen, especially in mottled hard rubber (Swan didn't do red ripple) so look for cap lip cracks. There may be some fading. There are slight differences in versions: some have narrow cap bands, others broad, some come with clips fitted, others without or with accommodation clips. I find the SF1 a bit too slender but the SF2 is more comfortable in the hand. An MHR SF2 is a beautiful pen and that's a good price if all is well.

Thank you for reply.
These are the pictures for the actual pen:

Re: Swan Mabie Todd Pens.
Beautiful pen. The combination of inserted clip and bandless cap is unusual. There is a little fading as you can see in the final shot but I wouldn't regard that as a serious detraction for a near hundred year old pen.

Oh, yes, I didn't notice that. But still a good looking pen.

Thank you for pointing this out, didn't noticed!
I will have the chance to dip test the pen.

Beautiful pen! The rubber pens are really nice to write with. Its amazing that after all this time you smell them and they still smell like rubber!Attachment 66634Attachment 66635
Mine must then be an SF1?

Seen this pen for sale and it has sold for peanuts.
This is an amazing pen, a real piece of instrument. So I am posting this seller's few images of his listing. This is for pleasure.

Lovely. I would have gladly bid one peanut more, had I known of it.
Re: Swan Mabie Todd Pens.
You are right Jon, should have think to put few more peanuts!!! A good lesson .
I had a bid at the beginning of the listing. I was not aware when was the last day. Then I realised it was over when I saw it was sold for £156 .
When I see this I am scratching my head. It is the most lovely pen from Swan and it is unique and original in all the ways.
Just look at the Box never seen that box and the box have a lock just as the safety pin type hook on the chain. Good luck to the lucky buyer anyway.
