Re: Fun, Free Word Puzzle
I've been playing for a few days now, and really enjoying wordle :)

I wondered where the letter popularity order came and found this interesting page
https://www.lexico.com/explore/which...-are-used-most
I wonder if that sequence would apply to modern writing as it's over 150 years old. Also, I found the other sequence interesting.

Here's a table based on present usage. An analysis based on letter frequencies in international publications (e.g The Guardian) which include quite a few non-English words would be somewhat different.

20 minutes and all the guesses. I didn't know they sometimes use repeat letters. Tricky buggers....

Took me three attempts to get the middle letter for this one!

Re: Fun, Free Word Puzzle
I usually go four rows with an occasional three. A few days ago I got skunked. On the fifth row I guessed sieve. The word was siege.
Re: Fun, Free Word Puzzle
I like it that they only post one puzzle each day. Here's my stat sheet so far: five wins, one skunk—

Re: Fun, Free Word Puzzle
I came across Wordle just last night. Very smart to have one a day so you don't binge away hours. I would note that the puzzle is up for exactly 24 hours so the previous post, Chip, is a total spoiler if someone wanted to play today. Maybe just show past examples?
Re: Fun, Free Word Puzzle
Oops! I thought it had expired. Deleted the screenshot. I'll check on the timing, maybe GMT?

I hadn't thought about the timezone thing. With the ".uk" in the link GMT might be a consideration. Anyway, just wanted to mention. I happened to catch the game last night around 11:30 PST and when I finished, it said a new game was coming in 30 minutes, with a countdown timer. Maybe it is time-zone corrected? So I played two games in a row about 1/2 hour apart, but have to wait for next one.
ETA: logging into Wordle shows the countdown to midnight for new game is linked to my time zone, not sure if that is global or what. I'm in PST.
Re: Fun, Free Word Puzzle
I'm in Atlantic Standard Time, and its countdown is to my local midnight. I guess that answers the question.
Re: Fun, Free Word Puzzle
my dad just sent a link to this game on a different channel. this thing is the omicron of word games.

Same here. So, to avoid posting a spoiler, one should wait the time shown on the puzzle plus how many hours?
I find time zones perplexing. When we lived in New Zealand we had to calculate the best times to make calls to the US, Ireland, etc., most often after midnight. Ugh!
