Help! Pondering ordering more diamine...
I quite fancy getting at least one bottle of sparkly ink, but I also am thinking about buying some more standard inks. However, not sure which shades I should consider which are different to my current stock:
Grey
Merlot
Salamander
Scarlet
Imperial Purple - restocked in Spring 2019!
Blaze Orange
Teal
Steel Blue
Sunshine Yellow
Macassar
Rustic Brown
Mediterranean Blue
Delamere Green
Dark Brown
Oxblood
Havasu Turquoise
Ultra Green
Poppy Red
Kelly Green
Twilight
Ancient Copper
Grape
Amaranth
Bougainvillea (free sample) edit - all gone!
Prussian Blue (free sample)
Carnation (free sample)
Apple Glory - was given away
Chopin (free sample - used, and bought 30ml bottle, Spring 2019)
Purple Pazzazz
Blue Pearl
Golden Sands
Golden Ivy
Electric Pink
Wagner (free sample)
Citrus Ice
Lamy cartridge inks: Violet, Green, Turquoise, Neon Lime, Vibrant Pink
J. Herbin - 1670 series: Emeraude de Chivor, 1670 series: Rouge Hematite
Samples of Chesterfield inks were sent to me by a penpal: Antique Oxford, Antique Copper, Emerald, along with Noodler's Blue Ghost
New additions Spring 2019:
Vivaldi
Tyrian Purple
Sherwood Green
Desert Burst
Hope Pink
Sparkling Shadows
Frosted Orchid
Rockin Rio
Lamy Bronze cartridges.
Samples - R.O. Sublime, R.O. Ryde Green, R+K Blau permanent, P.R. Purple Mojo, J. Herbin Bouquet d'Antan, Lamy Red.
What should I look for next? Not expecting to order before Summer 2019 now at the earliest! If I want a red, I may look to Red Dragon, but I don't use much red in letters.
Re: Help! Pondering ordering more diamine...
Sapphire Blue is very bright and has some water resistance.
Re: Help! Pondering ordering more diamine...
My favorite Diamine greens are Green Black and Sherwood Green. My favorite Diamine red is Red Dragon. I don't know if you want to add a more easy-clean ink to your collection; if so Washable Blue and China Blue are good standard blue inks that are very low maintenance. I like all of the Music Collection, but my favorite is Bach. And Wagner is also really neat, if the color works for you.
Re: Help! Pondering ordering more diamine...
Sherwood Green
Red Dragon
FULL STOP
Re: Help! Pondering ordering more diamine...
I am currently enjoying Kensington Blue
Re: Help! Pondering ordering more diamine...
For blues, I would include Tchaikovsky and Regency Blue, or I might try Midnight instead of Twilight.
I would definitely add Red Dragon and if you like the shade of Montblanc Alfred Hitchcock red, try Burgundy Rose because that's a very close match.
Plus Sherwood Green.
Re: Help! Pondering ordering more diamine...
Thank you for the suggestions. Now I'm wrestling over the shimmer inks - Night Sky? Magical Forest? Blue Pearl? or Sparkling Shadows?!
Re: Help! Pondering ordering more diamine...
I just got Regency Blue and it is a winner. I also got the new Anniversary Blue Black and did not like that. It is mostly just a charcoal with almost imperceptible blue tint. Only looks like a Blue-Black when next too a true black. Even then...
I'll try Terra-cotta next. But Regency and Blue Velvet were big winners for me.
But Ancient Copper. Yes it cruds up on some pens. But goodness is that a great color. You need that. It is a Hall of Fame ink.
Re: Help! Pondering ordering more diamine...
Ancient Copper was one of the first inks I wanted but couldn't have (was announced but hadn't been released, I think) - I think my first order was Imp. Purple, Kelly & Ultra Greens, Steel & Med. blues, oxblood and poppy red. That first order came with a free pack of cartridges of various inks.

Diamine used to give a free pack of cartridges of various inks with orders over GB£10, but now they offer a free sample of ink instead. You can select which ink you want as your free sample too.
Re: Help! Pondering ordering more diamine...
Yes, it was a sampler pack - although at that time, didn't have a pen to take the universal cartridges - where is it...? Found - Med., Passion Red, Umber, Monaco Red, Teal, Woodland Green, Prussian Blue, Majestic Blue, Orange, and Jet Black. I think a couple of the cartridges have been "borrowed" by my son into a "cheap" cartridge pen. My last order, I had Bougainvillea as the sample (and it is a nice colour too).
I'll probably look to the Music/Flowers for the free sample.
Currently leaning towards Night Sky (I don't have a black unless you include Quink cartridge/bottle) or Blue Pearl if I decide to get Eclipse. Decisions decisions! The inks will be used for writing letters on all sorts of paper (Paperchase, Diddl, Basildon Bond)
Re: Help! Pondering ordering more diamine...
Blue Pearl was my very favorite of the Shimmertastics and I can't say enough good things about it.
But that is not to slight Night Sky, which is also very nice and in a wet pen looks very silvery. I think Blue Pearl has more of a "wow" effect, and Night Sky is quieter but elegant. So it depends on what you're looking for.
By the way, if you like Ancient Copper, you might love Brandy Dazzle. FWIW.
Re: Help! Pondering ordering more diamine...
Current thinking - Night Sky, Apple Glory + free - Carnation.

They will send you some cartridges and a free sample with your order.

Re: Help! Pondering ordering more diamine...
My latest order from Diamine, they don't include the free cartridge anymore, only comes with the free sample.
Re: Help! Pondering ordering more diamine...
Sargasso Sea is a very dark blue in a broad nib, that doesn't lean towards grey (which is good!!!). Haven't tried it yet but I'm thinking it might lean more to blue with a f, ef nib.
Re: Help! Pondering ordering more diamine...
I ordered Blue Pearl (very happy with this one), Apple Glory (cheerful), and Carnation for the free sample. Then, I persuaded my other half to order more - Golden Sands and Purple Pazzazz with Chopin free sample. I made the mistake of putting the Golden Sands in a pen with a fine nib, still a nice shade. Not tried the pazzazz or either sample.
Re: Help! Pondering ordering more diamine...
Oh dear, over the last week or so, bought 10 more inks, and half a dozen samples!!! Will reveal all when they arrive home next week or so!!!
Re: Help! Pondering ordering more diamine...
Hi,
Green/Black, Racing Green (if you can get it), Classic Green, Red Dragon, Autumn Oak. I would have added Macassar, but you already have it...
