Re: Sketches I make when I travel or walk around
Here is another Tuscan church, this one is in Florence. San Miniato al Monte is a Romanesque style church which was started in the 11th century. It was added on to successively into the Renaissance. It has an interesting plan and is a full monastery (still in function as such today). I can say this is probably my favorite church in Florence, and maybe Italy. Side note: It was named after San Miniato, a hermit who was sentenced to decapitation. Once decapitated supposedly San Miniato picked his head up and carried it across the Arno river to the site of the church now, which is on top of a large hill outside of the city walls.

The beautiful Florentine Baptistry, also called St. John's Baptistry. 11th century Tuscan Romanesque style architecture.

I meant Noodler's 54 Massachussetts, an ink you used in earlier sketches.
I liked the look of the ink, and I'm trying to 'get my hand back in' with sketching. Even my dentist asked about it. I did some paintings of Canada geese for him eons ago.

I figured it was the ink (54th Mass is probably one of my top 3 favorite inks!) I just didn't know what you were referring to! 54th Mass is a great drawing ink, especially because it can get pretty dark.
Re: Sketches I make when I travel or walk around
It was all the way on the first page, I guess. ;)
Re: Sketches I make when I travel or walk around
Nice job with the perspective and shading. Well done.
Re: Sketches I make when I travel or walk around
I like the way you handled the foliage. I am an architect with 44 years experience and I appreciate the stylized approach. Nice work.

Yikes, it's been too long since I posted anything here. That is 100% because I haven't been drawing much, but I will try to revive this thread. Here is a drawing I did yesterday of an old VW Bug I saw in Valley Stream, NY. This was fun to draw, but I have to admit drawing cars is not my specialty. I drew this with my Platinum 3776 (Chartres edition) with an EF nib, the ink was Platinum Carbon Black. Hope you guys like it, cheers!

Nice. From San Miniato to San Mini-Auto!
Re: Sketches I make when I travel or walk around
I love it! You make me want to buy every pen/ink combo I see in your sketches...but of course I'd need the talent and skill to go with 'em.
Re: Sketches I make when I travel or walk around
PM me your address, I'd like to send you something. If you're interested of course!!

Re: Sketches I make when I travel or walk around
I really enjoyed your architectural sketches. All of them were quite lovely, honestly. Good job!

I apologize about not posting here more often. I have definitely been drawing, perhaps even more than usual. So here is a drawing of the Hercules from Baccio Bandinelli's sculpture in from of Palazzo della Signoria in Florence.

Your work is fantastic!
I am a big fan of pen and wash technique. Do you consider yourself part of the urban sketcher group?

Thank you! Yeah, I like the Urban Sketcher group. I have participated in local events in NY and here in Florence as well.
