    Default Hello from England...

    Hi everyone.

I'm Andrew from Devon in the south west of England, and I am rapidly becoming a fountain pen geek but I'm still learning and look forward to engaging with people here who can educate me! I've always loved fountain pens since school in the same way as I prefer mechanical watches to electronic, steam locomotives to diesels and acoustic guitars to electrics...
My collection, if you can call it that, is pitifully small but is destined to grow in time. I have no specific leaning toward vintage or modern but have bought what appeals to me. So far:

    Parker Vacumatic, 1945
    Sheaffer Balance 2, 1998
    Parker Sonnet, 1999
    Jinhao X450, 2013
    Jinhao X750, 2014
    Pilot Custom 74, 2014

    Best wishes,
    Andrew

Welcome. I'm mostly vintage, in age as well as my likes.

Hi, well as far as inks are concerned I only have black Quink right now. I did buy a Rhodia tablet because it seems to be much favoured but I find the paper almost too smooth. Both paper and inks will need to be investigated further; although the cost of Iroshizuku inks, for example, is a little prohibitive right now, the range of colours is interesting...

As an introduction to fountain pen collecting I bought Peter Twydle's 'Fountain Pens' which has already taught me a lot.
