Question Cross Century convertor or alternative cartridge?

A friend I work with has a Cross Century and is finding that the proprietary cartridges are not that great. He is having issues with a loose fit and some ink leaking inside of the barrel.

He mentioned converting it to an eye dropper, which I instantly talked him out of due to the all metal body. As far as both of us are aware Cross do not make a converter for this pen either... so here we are...

Does anyone know of a converter, alternative cartridge or fix for this issue?

I recommended a temporary fix of wrapping some masking tape around the top of the cartridge to give a more 'snug' fit in the chamber; but this is not really an ideal fix.

The original Century does use a converter, I think it is the green one.
The new Classic Century that uses a slim cartridge does NOT have a converter.
I have not had leaking problems with the Cross cartridges. The cartridges fit tight over the nipple. AFAIK, no one other than Cross makes Cross cartridges.

Look down into the section with a lighted magnifier. There is a chance that the nipple is broken, which will leak.
The original Century is not repairable, too old, no parts.
The new Classic Century is repariable. Contact Cross to get it repaired.

Thank you ac12, it is the modern Century I so I think we are stuck with root cause analysis and repair/modify.

Unfortunately I didn't see him today to check. I think this will a sit down with tools and a drink or two to get a resolution... how terrible, a few drinks with a friend to talk about a subject close to my heart... however will I cope?

The Century I takes the slim cartridges so the standard convertor does not fit the barrel

    Tom
    There are 3 different Centuries:
#1 the "original" Century from the 1980s, takes the green converter
#2 the Century II, takes the orange converter
#3 the new Classic Century, uses SLIM Cross cartridges and Cross did/does not make a converter for this pen.
