    Default Hello from New England

    Hello,

I recently got hooked on fountain pens. While looking for new notebooks, I stumbled upon some fp blogs, and the rest is history, or at least an eventful two months

I have a Pilot Metro, a Noodler's Ahab & Nib Creaper, and a vintage Esterbrook SJ. Each pen is great in its own way, and I've learned a lot about pens and my own writing from using them.

I'm not interested in collecting pens, but in having great writing tools. Back before I knew what a big deal it was, I was given a Mont Blanc, but I didn't like using it, and it was too heavy for me, so I swapped it for a pair of earrings. That said, I do love the look, feel, and writing of the vintage Esties, and can see myself getting lots of pens with lots of different nibs.

I came across fountain pens at a great time. We've already had more than 3' of snow; the uni where I work closed for 4 days, and we could get anywhere from 8-15" of snow this weekend. There's nothing else to do but stay inside and write

That's the perfect way to spend a snow day - writing in a notebook with your fave fountain pen. Glad to have you here.

I hear you about everyday use! Sounds like you live in more of the recent snow belt than I. Good luck through the weekend!

Yeah, 3 feet on the ground, and did you hear they're predicting 84 hours of continuous snowfall from tomorrow until Tuesday. So far, they're predicting just light accumulation, perhaps another foot over that time, but this is getting ridiculous. Welcome, and I loved your story about trading a MB for a pair of earrings.

Welcome! I am new as well. What do you think of the Nib Creeper? I have found it a bit scratchy at first but I think it's wearing in and I like it more the more I use it. The flex nib is quite different from the Pilot Metro to be certain!
I quite enjoyed the MB for earring swap story too!
    At any rate welcome!

The Nib Creaper is interesting. I haven't exactly figured out the best way to write with it, but I'm having lots of fun experimenting. I mainly use it as a way to sample inks.

The only good thing about the snow is the snow days, and the time they give me to write Though, I have had enough of shoveling.

Welcome! I find writing letters by the fireplace to be the best use of an ice-bound February evening!
