Default Ink skipping & intermittent starts

Advice needed please: I've just put in a new Lamy blue cartridge yesterday in a new Safari Al Star (EF) but have been experiencing frequent skipping and intermittent starts when I begin to write again from uncapping. How do I resolve this issue as it is really becoming a distraction to writing and spoiling my enjoyment of the writing experience and my new pen. Thank you.

My apologies if this issue has been addressed elsewhere. Kindly point me to the link pls.

    Hi WenV,
There has been some discussion in this thread:

Have you washed out the pen yet and maybe remove* the nib and clean it and the plastic feed ?
Lamy always test the nibs and perhaps some ink residue could be causing problems.

Brian Goulet of Goulet Pens has some helpful videos such as how to clean a new Lamy pen & removing the nib:

I think he also has another somewhere on the two different types of Lamy converters the Z24 & Z26.
