Yikes! That was nerve wracking!!! FPN just doesn't work as a Methadone program.

I was suprised how I reacted to the possibility this being gone. Badly. I did not realize how much changes here may be connected. I hope they will realize how much we all mean to each other and work things out. I think they both mean a lot to us all too. Anything any of us can do to help? Being demanding about answers may not be helping.

Amen sister!! I was worried.

You're right. I didn't mean to be demanding. I'm just curious and scared. Whatever happened affects us all, and I much prefer this forum to the . . . alternative(s). I guess I just hope that we'll get some sort of assurances that the Forum will continue, even if we aren't told why this happened. I don't really need gory details, I just want to have an understanding of what happened and how we can make sure it doesn't happen again, if we can.

I'll have more to say later tonight. Before the forum came live again, I thanked you, Brian, for your efforts over on FPN; I reiterate that. I thank Eric as well, though I am assuming he is also the one who took them down.
Which leads to this: I sincerely hope this community is given an explanation for all of this. I have supported FPG with time, energy, and donations. I was not happy to see it summarily executed, if only to rise from the dead again.
But, more later. For now, relief at the return of a Very Good Thing.
"When Men differ in Opinion, both Sides ought equally to have the Advantage of being heard by the Publick;
and that when Truth and Error have fair Play, the former is always an overmatch for the latter."

Yup, if the issue is financial I would be happy to help with costs. But given how the whole thing vanished without warning... I would need clear, transparent communication before I felt comfortable contributing significantly in that way. One of the key issues many of us have with another forum is the lack of transparency on the part of the forum owner, and the way the "ownership" of the community is ignored.
In no way do I mean to be demanding. But. What makes FPGeeks a great place are all of the people who post here on a regular basis. Apart from the "brand" and any other decisions my concern is keeping the *community* first and foremost. (I honestly don't read the main forum or blog much. The community is what matters to me.)

Wow... I am rather shocked by this. I usually log in in the mornings and check the happenings on the boards. Then come home and see what's new and post. I'll admit that I am quite the quiet one, since I feel like there are more people that are better equipped to answers questions. The idea that it was gone for a moment scares me. I have far too many friends on here.
Thank you Eric for bringing the forum back and Brian Anderson for suggesting it.
I just hope that some sort of clarity comes. FP Geeks is my digital home, and I feel like that the users should have some sort of say. Since it's kinda in the name FP GEEKS. It's plural. And we are a family of sorts. Just my two pence.

I woke up to the new redesign. Without warning. Eric Schneider owns the server the site and forum were hosted on and shut things down. I've tried to reach him without success. I'm trying every attempt I can think of to open a line of communication with him.
Can we please have drama at minimum and get on with pens and shit? Thanks.Therefore, during the coming months, FPGeeks will be re-evaluating its purpose and mission within the fountain pen community. Input from the community itself is both welcome and appreciated. Should you care to contribute ideas, feedback, criticism, etc., please send your thoughts to thefuture@fpgeeks.com.

Oh you're all back! I'm so glad! I was having withdrawals!
Got up early to check what was going on, so pleased to see us all back safe and sound, very worried yesterday, now just concerned for the future, we've all got a stake in this, many investing time and money into it, it would be more than a shame if it disappeared, it would be a disaster...

Really glad the forum is back up. I could have survived with just FPN, but I would have been very sad to see this lively little community disappear.
