Default Pens I didn't use today

I didn't use my Conway Stewart today because the nib is giving me the shits.

I did not use this today, yesterday or last week, because the nib is too smooth for me. I will use it again when I have some rougher paper.

    Interesting idea for a thread.

I'm not using this Vacumatic because I already have five pens inked, and want to empty them only by writing with them. Once one of them is empty, though, I'm going to fill this up with Pilot Blue-Black to take its place.

The Aurora randomly snapped in half at the grip section a few months ago, and I accidentally twisted the Snorkel's feed trying to unscrew the nib section for cleaning.

Here is one of at least 20 that I am not using today. This EdiSheafferSon had been inked (with diluted Parker Penman Sapphire) until I experienced the familiar Daily Carry Overload (too many pens in rotation!), so, with some regret, I transferred the remaining ink to a Pelikan Toledo 710 (there was an entire scenario at this point, switching inks around, taking inks out of rotation, much heavy considering, weighing, feeling).

Anyway, notice the door knob on the cap. I glued that there so I would be able to discern the cap from the barrel easily, finally.

The background (laughing) is the mousepad Sketchy made for me using a photo taken at Penopoly a few years ago. It's my favorite mousepad.

That's a really interesting pen, especially with the doorknob addition. What glue did you use to adhere it?

That is an Edison Morgan ED with a Sheaffer Tuckaway Triumph nib and section that Brian Gray made for me. That door knob used to be a part of an earring. I used a clear glue that got everywhere. Luckily, the person who had the glue also had the antidote for my hands and for the rest of the pen that didn't need it. Don't know the name of the glue (it's in Polish, and I have no idea where it is at the moment), but I imagine it's like Krazy Glue.

This green Vacumatic Major, which just started leaking at the threads. My hands are an inky mess. Sigh.

I'm sorry to hear that. I hate that. Were the section shellacked?

I have a Burnham pen in three pieces because my cat decided she could make it up to the shelf my pens are on when the door was left open and drug it out with her when she fell on her butt. I at least have a free nicely colored platignum nib to use if I ever need to replace one.

I have a few pens I haven't used today but one I wanted to use earlier had run out of ink in the cartridge (and I was out at a cafe finishing off a letter) so instead of my Lamy, I used a Parker.

I'm not going to show all of my un-inked pens, or any more after this group, but here are four that I want to get back into action at an early opportunity. L-R, Waterman 12-PSF, Moore L-82, Sheaffer Flat Top (the nib says 3-25), and an American Mabie Todd Swan 54.

The Waterman and the Moore are the two most flexible nibs I have, the other two have no flex worth mentioning, but are still very smooth writers. The Waterman tends to splutter a little if agitated, and is an at home pen, the other three do just fine with being carried around.

The more nice pens I have, the more I regret not being able to use them all at once.

    Well. let's see. . .

Since I only have 2 pens inked today, that leaves over 100 of them that I didn't use today. Won't bore you with the list (and I don't have time to type it all.)

I didn't use this Visconti Van Gogh Portrait in Blue today. Or this week.
Mostly because I had to cut myself off - I already have 9 pens inked and that's 8 too many to clean!

And just because this pic is my favorite of this pen:

I didn't know you could do that accidentally. Did the nib start to unscrew as well? Pretty sure the nib threads into the collar. Remove the nib assembly from the grip section, grasping it on the plastic, snug down the nib, use a flat-head screwdriver from behind in the slot of the feed to turn it until it is properly aligned with the nib. Reinstall the nib assembly. Viola! Should take longer to find the right screwdriver than to fix it up.
