Hi, I have just joined the forum today.
On February 21st (last month) I was at my girlfriends home when she presented to me a box of pens that had been in her loft (attic) for some time.
inside the box was an assortment of mint, boxed un-inked fountain pens, mostly Pelikans from the late 80"s.
Included a pre Germany reunification M800, M750, M760. also M150 and three matching D800 pencils, lovely old 100N. A Montblanc 144/Classsic.
Various 80's Sheaffers, Parkers and so on.
She told me that they were to go on ebay! I stepped in and had the lot of her, and now I have turned into a pen addict.
Upon investigating and pricing this lot I hadn't realised just how many wonderful old pens still exist, and that there was so much interest.
I can see the appeal; something that can be collected that actually has a use! Also the challenge of tracking down and acquiring your desired pen.
I have rapidly developed an interest in Pelican, Montblanc and Conway Stewart, and have bought more since acquiring the above from my girlfriend.
All in two weeks! Is there treatment for this compulsion?
From what I have seen so far Fountain Pen Geeks has a lot of resource for beginners like me.
Thanks for reading
Cheers
Alan
