Dropped: Sailor 1911 Extra-Fine 21K Nib

So I dropped my Sailor 1911 Extra-fine 21K nib whilst cleaning.

The top of the nib now looks like a blob of melted silver.

I guess this was bound to happen at some point, but did it have to be the finest, softest nib that I own?

Anyway, what are my choices? Can I get the nib repaired, if not to the same EF that Sailor is famous for, then to a broader nib?

Or should I just buy a whole new nib unit (although I'm sure this is basically the same price as a new pen)?

It's only one of many pens, but I feel gutted anyway.

I have no idea what a nibmiester charges for repairing something like that. Maybe try Greg Minuskin? Send him some good close up photos from various angles and he may be able to tell you what can be done and how much.

I guess the problem is it would probably cost at least $70 in postage for a round-trip to Australia before any work would be done on a pen which seems to have a street price of about $250.

It's sad though, because it's the first high-end pen I bought after getting addicted to inks and fountain pens.

It looks like you got a better suggestion on FPN. Someone in Oz that can fix it.
