    Default Prototype Fountain Pens

I just purchased a pen which I discovered will be my first prototype pen. A Danitrio Phantas III snake.

I noticed there isn't really a thread dedicated to discussing them and showing off our prototypes. So, I figured I would start one.

Post your prototype pens here, ask questions you make have about them, etc.

Just to clarify, are we discussing Prototype/Experimental pens or Danitrio.

    Ray,
What makes it a prototype, Danitrio is not in my realm of knowledge.

Prototypes are basically the first example of a product to show a general idea of the end product and often are not released for sale. Its the version they make and see what improvements if any need to be made.

The company is still around but now focuses on really high end multithousand dollar Maki e painted pens by various artists and you can see them on danitrio.com.

In the beginning they were their own brand and made more normal looking fountain pens. The pen I posted was actually discontinued over 20 years ago. From what I understand the version that was actually released had the Phantas name printed on the cap.

With the clarification, I present an experimental pen from Parker. with documentation.

Is that a chunk/cut out on the barrel near the back end?

No it is an inventory tag from Parker.

It is a working pen though I have not had the urge to use it.

Interesting nib design especially if one considers Moore's 1946 Fingertip and the 1953 Waterman CF. If the work order date is accurate, it falls right between.

    Thanks for posting the photos.
