    Default Brown LINE Safari LE

I was browsing KMPN's blog and noticed this entry for a matt Brown Safari LE. As with most Asian Safari/Al-Stars it appears to come with a black ink cartridge.

LINE FRIENDS launches limited edition fountain pen with ‘LAMY’– LINE FRIENDS launches Safari fountain pen and rollerball pen, featuring Brown
    – First collaboration of German high-end fountain pen brand, LAMY, throughout its 85-year history
    – First release of 100 pens sold out within an hour; debuts at the Garosu-gil flagship store

Global mobile messenger, LINE, has announced the launch of the LINE edition of the ‘LAMY Safari fountain pen’ and ‘LAMY Safari rollerball pen’ from its collaboration with the German high-end fountain pen brand.
LAMY is a brand that was established in Heidelberg, Germany in 1930. In a time when brands manufacture overseas to increase profits, LAMY continues its operation in Heidelberg in order to maintain the high quality of its products.
This series is the first collaboration with another brand for LAMY throughout its entire 85-year history. LAMY has claimed that they chose to do their first collaboration with LINE FRIENDS based on its status as Asia’s most beloved characters, in the hope that it would help fountain pens develop a fresh, accessible image.
The collaboration between LINE and LAMY consists of a ‘Brown’-themed Safari fountain pen and rollerball pen, and uses the distinct color-scheme of the LINE FRIENDS representative character. The development of the designs reportedly took a number of attempts in order to accentuate the distinct color-scheme of ‘Brown’.
The two brands were able to create a unique collaboration due to the U-shaped clip on LAMY products, which, depending on the individual preferences of users, are possible to have two different silicon buttons of Brown’s face attached.
This collaboration will make its debut at the LINE FRIENDS Garosu-gil flagship store which is set to open on March 6. Following the trial sales of the first 100 items at offline stores, the official release of the collaboration is highly anticipated. After the nationwide release, users from all over the world will be able to purchase the pens from pop-up stores and also via the online LINE FRIENDS store.
LINE has released the statement, “Fountain pens have accompanied the history of the human race since 1809 and have now met the mobile messenger characters that are the core of smartphone communication,” and they “hope the collaboration between the two brands provide fun and excitement to their users.”(E)

From what I understand, the little bear is an iconic figure for the store.

From the LINE site blurb it appears there could be another larger release; if I've comprehended it correctly.
This collaboration will make its debut at the LINE FRIENDS Garosu-gil flagship store which is set to open on March 6. Following the trial sales of the first 100 items at offline stores, the official release of the collaboration is highly anticipated. VO - the bear faces attach to the clip via the rectangular tab.
In the Kinokuniya shop in Sydney there are quite a few pens with a disc/badge/face at the top of the clip like this.

Video in German with English subtitles.
It shows 'BROWN' being engraved into the cap and the pens being tested too.

Cool Re: Brown LINE Safari LE

Bumping this up for everyone interested.

I don't know if there were more released or there were pre-orders just shipped but eBay just got flooded with these and they are ranging from $75-$80 shipped.

BE careful as there are some cheaper and it took a better read to realize they were the gel pen versions and not the fountain pens.

Just an FYI ... happy hunting my pen goblins

Bad earthdawn. You just made me fall off the no new pen bandwagon. Did you hear the thump? A cute lamy bear is on its way to me.

In my ongoing effort to keep up with the Crazyoranges, I caved and got one, too, which I just received. And ... it's real! Unless the counterfeiters are test writing with their fakes, like Lamy does.

If anyone wants to PM me, I can give you the name of the eBay seller I used.

    Congratulations on your new Safari.
It must have been a big decision on which bear face to attach first - I'm guessing the lipsticked one.

    1. Mine looks exactly like the photos already posted by Bogon07. Those are great, extremely clear and very true-to-life. I could not hope to do better.

    2. I just put it back in its box. No bear. But I feel certain that when my 14-year-old comes home tomorrow she'll take possession. And she is sure to pick the bear with the hearts. No question. The other one looks nonplussed, if not slightly surly. Like she needs her coffee. Hey, I guess that one would represent me.

Really, it's so much better than the neon lime one I can't even say. That's the one that makes me think I should get my head examined.
