My friend sent me a sample of think ink at the weekend. I've tried it over the weekend, and here is what I think:
- Very good flow
- Nicely lubricated
- Does Show/Bleedthrough on cheap paper
- Very little feathering
- Really nice neutral colour
- It shades really nicely
- From what I know of the mix. it is cheap to make

I really like this ink, the colour is neutral with none of the blue tints of many other burgundys. The ink flows well and I haven't had a hard start, skip etc since using it. The ink writes as soon as it touches the paper. It is a highly saturated ink with good shading qualities. The ink does bleed/showthrough on cheaper paper, but maybe that is the pen I used, the Galactic is a gusher. There is no feathering on good paper, but does a little on cheaper paper.
If what I believe is correct (it's a mix of Sheaffer and Waterman), then this would be a very cheap ink to mix up yourself. The colour is nice and dark and is suitable for any purpose you like. The water resistance on this is very low, and I think if I left the water test any longer than my usual 5 minutes, the colour would go completely.
I haven't been able to capture the colour quite as it is in reality, I've managed to get a blue tint in the picture that isn't actually there. I've been looking for a good burgundy, and this may just be it.
Cheers,
Bud.
