    Default Pen "kits"?

    Dear fellow fountainpen-o-philes,

Haven't been on here for a long time, but I'm getting the FP-"itch" again...

Now I know a guy, who makes great ballpoint pens from brass, titanium, damascus steel etc... And I've been bugging him to make a fountain pen.

The question is: are there "kits" available containing pen mechanisms, on which he can make his own barrels & caps?

If yes, could you point me in the right direction? (brand, shop, etc...)

If not, which cheap but good quality pen would you buy and dismantle for the parts?

Thanks in advance for your answers,

    Kind regards,

    Jos

The most well known supplier of pen kits is Penn State:
    http://www.pennstateind.com/store/pe...n%20Pen&page=1

They have a number of different kits, and some of their more expensive (and often more gauche--unfortunately) have Schmidt nibs. You can often find 10% discount coupons, but I don't know how much shipping to Belgium would be. Your friend also might need the bushings and specifically sized drill bits which Penn State carries.

You can also search ebay for "fountain pen kit" and you should get some hits.

    Thank you for the information!

Ebay is always the last place look... I don't trust e-bay...

I will check out that link.

    Kind regards,

    Jos
