Default Parker Vacumatic blind cap tassie

    Hi everyone,
I recently bought a nice golden pearl parker vacumatic with a black jeweled blind cap. Unfortunately, it is missing the tassie. I've looked here and there to no avail...5 star, etc.
Is there anyone out there who can help me out or point me in the right direction?
    Thanks in advance,
    James

Check the classifieds section. I happen to be looking for one for my Parker Vac Junior.

I have been looking for a tassie ring for my black jeweled 1935 vac for ages, but to no avail.

Heh heh. You have two main problems.

First, parts are hoarded, especially now that most parts pens are being aggressively bought up by people trying to restore pens themselves. And this is especially true for scarcer models, like the first generation Vacs, or oversized models.

Second, there is quite a bit of variation in Vac sizes, even within commonly recognized model designations (which affects most parts, just not tassies). I have several tassies in my parts bin, but need an exact measurement of the blind cap ring it fits on (preferably in millimeters), or else it won't fit properly. Feel free to PM me if you can get those details (which goes for Ray, too, by the way. No 1935 tassies, though.) : (

It's funny, because Parker's pens after the Vac are pretty standard in size. Parts for a 51 will fit on just about any other 51, and so on, within each model. Almost like they learned a lesson there...

    Hey,
Thanks David, I don't have my calipers out at the moment but I can tell you I believe it to be a 1940 Major. The tip of the jewel is @6mm graduating down to @7mm at the base.
I've done a bit of searching online, it was said that (I believe) 5 star pens had some tassie replicas but they apparently don't have them anymore.
Anyhow, thank you for your help....if you think you have something for me, please drop me a line.
    Regards,
    James

Is there some fundamental difference between the tassie ring I need for my 1935 Three Ring Standard and other tassie rings?

    Yes. Size and profile.

Do people really hoard parts. I mean I've heard about this but never actually seen it happen. It might be I do not know what constitutes a hoard.
