Default Thinking About Switching my Ahab Nib

My Ahab spits out ink like a firehose. I love the feel of the pen but not so hot about the flex, so I'm contemplating switching for either one of the Knox 35 nibs or buying a TWSBI Vac700 nib when they are released in EF to replace the Ahab's flex nib. I tried putting wax in the feed to slow down the flow but it simply caused the pen to die out after a few words. Think that might be able to tame my Ahab a bit?

I know this is a little late, but have you tried fiddling with the nib's position in relation to the feed? Having the nib farther in/out could solve the issue. I put a nail nib in my Ahab, and the flow didn't change much.
