Default New Pilot VP Nib Choice Coming

Brian Goulet posted a video and announcement about the new Pilot VP stub nib. Looks interesting. I don't think I will get it, but I can see people ordering it with a new VP.

    Here's a link to the video: http://blog.gouletpens.com/2015/06/p...ib-coming.html

Oooh, thanks for the share! I had the thought of buying a broad and getting it ground to either a stub or cursive italic!

    Naimitsu,

Sorry I did not post the video in my original post. I have since edited my post to include the video link. Brian's video includes some writing samples.

No worries. It didn't take me long to find the video
I was just about to post the link as well for others who aren't as well versed in traversing the Goulet website! Most of my early bits of information came from Brian and his site, so I'm fairly used to navigating through there.

I'm not sure if I'll get it either, but it is nice to have that as a new nib option. Since it's really easy to swap Vanishing Point nibs, I might consider this. Stupid question though: I have an older Vanishing Point that's branded as Namiki, not Pilot; the Pilot nibs (like this) would still fit it, correct?

Yes it will. Sammyo has a Namiki and we found that my modern VP nib fits in it beautifully.

Thanks for the heads up, Lady O. I like what I saw on the video and will seriously consider getting one. (Loves those stubs!)

Thanks for the heads up. I don't think I would buy an entire new Vanishing Point, but would definitely consider buying just the nib assembly to put in one of my current ones.

Some people have reported a little variation in these nib units over the years, so you might or might not have to slightly grind down the little tab doohickey that fits into the slot in the front barrel piece. I've never had an older capless pen, so I haven't seen this myself.

Hmm. It would, of course, be better if the Pilot nib fit right into my Namiki Vanishing Point without any problem. But I can understand that it might not be quite that easy if there have been slight differences in the way the pen was made over the years. My pen isn't exactly super-old: I bought it on sale when it was discontinued in the US, and I think that's when they switched the line from Namiki to Pilot. Hopefully that's recent enough that the newer nibs would fit in as-is, but until I try, I guess there's no way to know for sure. If it's just the tab part that might need shaping though, and nothing with the actual nib, I can probably deal with that. I suppose I'll find out if I decide to get one. Thanks.

It fits just fine. We have already put a pilot nib in a namiki without needing to make any modifications.
