Default Newton Pens Raffle for Education

    Hi Everybody!
If this is in the wrong place - apologies.

Last summer I sold a pen and drawing (donated by Steve Light) on ebay and raised almost $300. I spent that money plus a little of my own and bought 80 Kaigelu fountain pens to give away to my students. They went quick and there's still lots of kids to give pens to.

A couple months ago I decided to raffle tickets at the school where I teach 7-12 art for the chance to cut my long and tangled hair.

I'll be getting it cut next Friday. The money raised will go to extra art supplies. We don't NEED the money, but I thought it would be a fun way to get the kids involved in art - give them a sense of ownership over what goes on in there. So the haircut? The student whose name is drawn gets to do whatever they want, any shape, style, or color (nothing vulgar), and I'll wear it for a week. So yes - I'm going to wear it for a WHOLE week, AND at a football game. ...ugh... and if we reach $200 I'll let them shave/style my beard as well.

Then a month or so ago I thought - hey, maybe I could auction off one of my pens to raise some more money for pens to give to my students. I did. I raffled off this pen and raised $370 and bought 66 pens from fountainpenrevolution.com AND he threw in 10 more pens to say thanks. I think those should be here in a few days. Can't wait to give them out.

Then I while later I thought, hey, I should be doing more than just giving out pens -- I'll keep doing that, but I want to do more. I want to help my kids (yes, they're MY kids ) go to college. I'm going to raffle off a pen every month and put all the money aside into a dedicated bank account, and at the end of the school year, write a check and give a scholarship to some deserving student, some student who otherwise wouldn't go to school for some reason or other.

    So that's what I'm doing.

This is the first raffle where all the money raised will be set aside in that bank account to be turned into a scholarship at the end of the school year. I'm really excited about it, too. So far I've got nine entries and an incredibley generous person even donated $100 to go straight to the fund, no raffle tickets bought. What an saint!

Here's the first pen for Newton Pens Scholarship available for raffle!

Win a pen and help fund a scholarship so a student has a chance to go to college!

This cumberland button filler is 1/2″ thick at the threads, Closed – 5 1/2″ – Open 5″ – Posted 6 7/8″. Currently sports a fine nib, but I'll put any size tip with any type of grind you'd like. See more pics here.

If this pen doesn't tickle your fancy - you can opt to have a custom pen made up just for you. Any material I have in stock - c/c or button filler.

Raffle tickets are $10 each - paypal to newtonpenspay@gmail.com and you can buy as many as you'd like.
Go to my blog here to see which numbers have been taken so you don't pick the same one.
