    Another sketch with a Sheaffer.

A Sheaffer Crest Touchdown this time.

I'm back to one of my favorite subjects to sketch: rural landscapes. This time featuring a forgotten farmstead whose time-worn look makes it even cooler. In my eyes, at least.

One of the fascinating aspect of sketching is within the process of adding details. In this part, you get to define the story of the subject that you're sketching. This is why I don't need reference pictures or photos for very long, but just enough to give me an idea on the structure and proportions. The rest of the time, I am having fun telling the story in my own way.

Very nice, penwash. And although it may not be the point for you, I appreciate your ability to draw that well in such a small sketchbook (judging from the size of the pen).

    That notebook is 5-3/4 x 4 inches.

I gravitate towards sketches that size because I can finish it in one sitting (also probably fits my scatter-brain). Which in turn gave me an opportunity to do version 2 (or sometimes 3) if I don't like how the first one turned out.

My newest fountain pen sketch with line and wash technique.

This is the cropped, re-framed, post-processed, ready to be uploaded to my redbubble shop (looks good as a postcard or greeting card):

This is the original (with the pen):

The pen is a big National Pen. Co. with a "caramelized" cream marble celluloid.

Despite having the general shape of a sliced-bread loaf, adding interest and age details to this old city tram proved to be quite tricky, but fun.

The inspiration of today's sketch came from images of vintage medical supplies.
That and an "on a whim" selection of ink: DeAtramentis Sahara Grey.

The old Salz Bros BCHR just got its new nib, part of a bunch of vintage pen parts I got last week.
