One of my favorite pens.
I have a few and talked about them here: http://fountainpenfollies.com/2015/08/01/aurora-optima/

I've had a few different pens in the Optima family, and have loved every one. Never had an issue. Currently have a Sole with a factory broad stub (italic?) nib that is flat out wonderful.

I've a green marbled one. Looks and feels great to hold.
The nib has a little feedback or it could be slightly scratchy.....a bit ordinary to write with. I need to try more inks in it.

I have the Optima 365 in "F" and the Mar Adriatico in "M". Love and use both extensively. They both have just the right amount of feedback IMO. Also they are a great size for medium sized hands. Good luck on your purchase.

Gotcha. I was just busting since you said you had a chance to thin the herd and the jumped right to a new pen options, with absolutely nothing between. Like celebrating weight loss with a cheeseburger and milkshake. That struck me as kind of funny besides being sort of nonsequitor-esque.
