Big, Juicy 3B Beauty

Hey all,

I don't have it yet, but I'm posting already out of excitement!

I placed a bid a bit randomly on a pen on ebay... happened to be a Souveran M800, blue striped with the now extinct 3B nib. Didn't think I'd get it cause I bid early and didn't place a high bid (as far as how high I've seen other 3B nibs go), but I figured why not?

...and then I won! No one even bid on it!

I've longed for a nice Pelikan broad nib for a long time as I'm a fan of wet, juicy nibs. Who'd of thought my first Pelikan would be with this ginormous nib!

I'm quite excited, but now I've gotta wait for USPS...

I'll post my first impressions when I get the pen hopefully later this week!

UPDATE: Pen shipped and will be here Thursday!

I'm a little worried about this pen now. Supposed to be delivered on Thursday, but I'm never home during the day so a notice was left for redelivery. I signed it and requested a redelivery online. I left the slip in my mailbox yesterday. The slip is gone but no pen.

Check online, says delivery scheduled for today. Well the postman came today, and still no pen.

WHY USPS WHY!?!?!? I just want my pen!

I have been on the same road.

Once you sign the slip and leave it... they take it ... then the delivery day... they deliver it .. FRUSTRATING but they told me they can't keep all the packages on the trucks so they bring them back and wait for the release slip and then put it back on the truck for delivery.

Well I would have thought that if they took the slip yesterday, it would be delivered today.

If it's not here on Monday I'll have to call them I guess.

Aaaaawwww yea! I just checked the USPS tracking and it says delivered today! I'm at work but now I'm super excited to come home (as if I'm not always excited to leave work, haha).

Compared to the new Visconti Opera:




Both pens are fantastic in their own right. But the nib on the Pelikan beats out the Visconti. It's smoother, better flow, and performs every time. The Visconti though, is a more beautiful pen, IMO.

Very pleased with my purchases though.

I kinda see line variation in the writings above, but at the same time I don't.
Is that a round tip 3B or stub?

They're pretty awesome pens. And that nib is so good. If you find one for a decent price, snag it.

It is very much stub-like. Probably close to a 1.3 mm size?
