Any final comments on your experience with the Platinum 3776 Century?

Here is a writing sample comparing the Platinum "C" nib grind with a Montblanc 147 standard broad nib. As mentioned above, the "C" nib really is wet.

I now have Nice, Yamanaka, Bourgogne, Chartres Blue, Ribbed, and Briar, in a variety of F, M, SF nibs. They're lovely pens, but I find the demonstrators do feel a little too light; the Chartres on the other hand is a star, really a gorgeous pen and probably my favourite of the lot.

I also find they write a bit dry for my taste un-tweaked. But they never hard start and don't dry out. And they are incredibly comfortable in the hand.

PS Thanks to a nib swap with Denizzz, I now have an extra fine as well. It writes finer than any other nib I have; I'm going to have some serious fun seeing just how much I can cram into the margin in my notebooks! Oh wow. :-)

So a follow up on my experiences with the 3776 C nib. I was trying mine out with the option to buy. I love it, the pen writes fantastically, literally like using a sharpie. Very smooth nib, excellent flow. The pen feels good in hand, nicely balanced. But I am sending it back to the owner. As much as I love the amount of ink it puts down, I don't see myself using it that much because the nib is so big. It is more of a novelty pen for me, but if it was a Broad nib, I'd probably have bought it.

My 3776 Century was periodically going dry, although recovering fairly easily. That and IMO it's ink feed was a bit ttoo dry. Anyway sent it back to CFP-- hope to get it back soon.

What ink were you using?

Iroshizuku Asa-gao. from what Ive seen definitely not a dry ink.

Got the pen back yesterday, and John did increase ink flow. Still want to write a full page with it tomorrow, but very happy with it so far.

The Nice Pur is also the only Century 3776 they have where you can request an FM nib (it's not listed on the site, but available by request).

Classic Fountain Pens, which is the go-to if one desired non-stock nib configurations.

I do wish Platinum would see the light and sell the nibs separately like Lamy and Pelikan.

Looks like they removed the option for the web page, which was there when I ordered the Sai. Of course John can re-grind a medium nib, for which a CFP customer will only be charged for the grinding fee.

It was never listed, and the swap was only available for the Pur.
