The power to create an all black pen is nothing compared to the force.

Although the black is labelled as a Special Edition by Lamy it could become a replacement for the Graphite.

I think the Shiraz or BlackPurple Al-Star would have looked great with a black nib and clip combination.

Tandaina, look forward to seeing your review of the Pearl Al-Star.

I would love the Al-star to actually have a matching metal grip section. After years of using mine I'm finding the plastic section irritating. I thought about buying a couple of cheap charcoal Safaris and using that section but that would be a waste of good pen.

I guess Lamy are clever that way because I've ordered the brushed steel Studio with the rubberized grip. Also have my eye on the 2000.

The safari grip section will not fit the al-star without some modification.

Lucky I didn't follow through although I would have ended up with a nice stealthy Safari anyway.

The o-ring is attached to the grip on the Safari and attached to the barrel on the Al-Star. The Al-Star one has a slightly flatter cross section as well.

You could amuse yourself by interchanging Vista & Charcoal grips and barrels.

Brandonh, Whereeee did you get this case from?! I've been searching for a Lamy display case like this for mine and haven't been able to find one.

sure wish Lamy would make these cases available to masses...
Brandon, did your ebay source have more of these cases available?

It was a one-time-only kind of deal. It came from either Belgium or France--I can't remember...

And while I'm here, have an updated pic!

Will the 1.1 and 1.5 nibs be available in black for the special Al-Star?

I would not expect so. Lamy tends to associate the 1.1, 1.5. & 1.9 with the Joy rather than the Safari, Al-Star, Studio etc. You can get black nibs in EF, F, M, B, LH as far as I know. I have a steel A nib in my Black Al-Star and filled it with Noodler's Heart of Darkness which has crept all over the nib making it look almost black anyway.

Depends on the store. Some stores will only ship what Lamy ships, but as the Z50 nibs are so easily changed, some stores will go a little further and happily swap the standard nib for the italic nib. Goulet, TWD, isellpens do, but they are no doubt the only ones.

Edit: Just as I hit post I realised that you asked for black italic nibs. As far as I am aware, they are not available in black.
