That the Sport doesn't take converters (other than the ones Kaweco had made for it) isn't a surprise, but I haven't had a problem with standard converters in my two Dia's.

You can use a Monteverde mini converer. Its just that the Kaweco is the only GOOD mini converter on the market.
The Monteverde is as useless to me as the Kaweco squeeze converter, so I don't count them. I'm curious though, what is your experience with standard converters in your Dia? I have a couple of Schmidt's (K5? I forget...), one labeled Faber Castell that appears to be the same material on the end as the reservoir (instead of the usual black material), and one with "Pelikan" stamped in the ring next to the turning knob. They all work fine.

I have several Sport pens but the Monteverde mini converter that I bought specially doesn't stay in any of them. It simply falls out like the hole is too big. On the other hand the Kaweco mini converter fits very well and if you are unlucky enough to get one that leaks very slightly a small dab of silicone grease around the hole at the top fixes it.
As far as the Dia goes I didn't have as large a selection of "international sized" converters to try in there as I do now. I would bet that the Schmidt K5 would fit into a Dia but I no longer have a Dia to try.

I have several Sport pens too. And my nibs are EF. and italic . EF nibs are like needle nibs not everyone's cup of tea. They could be a wrong choice as they cut the papers with some feedback.
I'm currently trying to use only broader nibs. EF nibs are no longer one of my choices. I need to get on and sell my Omas and Montblanc 147 as they both have EF nibs and are never used.
