    Fountain Pen Ink To Consider

    Pelikan Edelstein-Jade, Topaz

    Rohrer & Klingner- Alt-Goldgrun

    Sheaffer-Scrip Turquoise

    J. Herbin- Vert Pre' (yellow green), Vert Olive, Rose Cyclamen

    Noodler's-Ottoman Azure
    Navajo Turquoise

Pilot Iroshizuku- Chiku-rin (Bamboo Forest- yellow green), Yama-budo (Crimson Glory Vine), & Ku-jaku (Peacock)

Sailor-Miruai (dark green, seaweed indigo, dark blue green), Tokiwa-matsu (pine green), Yama-dori (copper pheasant/teal), Oku-yama (maroon/burgundy)

Diamine-For some reason I have a longer list of Diamine colors than anything else.

Kelly Green (I have it and love it)
    Marine
    Autumn Oak

    Diamine Turquoise
    Aqua Blue
    Meadow
    Sherwood Green
    Aqua Lagoon
    Steel Blue
    Eau de Nil
Saffron (has this been discontinued, or do I have the wrong brand on here?)
    Syrah

Okay at this point I have highlighted those that I think are very high on the list for sure. If I could decide which of the greens and turquoise I prefer, that would cut down this list a lot! I won't delete those names that didn't make first cut, in case I decide to revisit the list.
    PM sent.
My other pen is a Montblanc.

And my other blog is a tumblr!

Sailor, I got your pm. :-)
Well I worked on that list until late last night. One is added, Diamine Sargasso Sea. Good grief. I sorted most of them by color on my list. I am getting closer.

I have been toying with the idea of trying one of these greens. I think I prefer the look of Tokiwa-matsu better, so I should try to get a sample of that ink. However, I agree that Diamine Sherwood Green is lovely.

I have decided to get quite a few samples. I will be doing this very soon. The pen, paper, and ink it seem, all have to be considered in the equation. I lucked out in the first 3 inks I bought. All 3 were great performers. The Diamine Kelly Green does not flow as well in my Pilot Prera F pen. You can still use it, but it is not optimal. Now I have the Franklin-Christoph #2 med cursive italic for a birthday/holiday present as well. (with extra gift money )

I thoroughly enjoy writing with the Sailor Tokiwa-Matsu. I bought a sample and within the first word decided I needed a bottle. I like darker shades of green though. What gets me with this ink is the way it writes dark and dries lighter and leaves behind some wonderful shading. I'll also toss in another vote for Edelstein Topaz. Decent shading and it's so vibrant and happy. Noodler's Habanero is another one that is bright and cheery and actually makes me smile when I write with it.

Well I got a bottle of Diamine Marine ink from my friend, and 2 Apica CD Notebooks, and a Rhodia Webnotebook. I am so thrilled with this. Then to top it off my daughter gave me a pen roll. It is quite lovely. I just got home from the get together a while ago. I cannot wait to try these things out. I won't ink up the Marine ink until tomorrow. I was surprised the Rhodia had Clairefontaine paper in it, I just assumed it had Rhodia paper. Regardless I am quite excited about all this stuff. I cannot wait to see how the new ink looks on that paper!

I tested the ink out today, and love it. (only in one pen though, so far) The notebooks were awesome. I am really enjoying that pen roll too. I don't know where my daughter got it. It holds 4 pens. One of the pen slots is pretty narrow, and barely fits the Pilot Prera. Then it also has another slot, with a zipper. I guess it is for a spare cartridge, or maybe that and maybe a brass sheet, or a tiny microcloth? I dunno, but it is cool.

Yes I sure do. The pen roll wasn't even on my wish list, but I wanted one anyway. I just told my daughter about some inks, and paper, I wanted. She sent that list to my friend. I know my friend didn't guess on the items she bought for me. I normally don't get such extravagant presents.

Well I ordered J. Herbin Emerald of Chivor, and Diamine Autumn Oak last night. Plus I order several samples. Those samples will help determine the next inks I buy. I have some samples here now. But I plan to wait until I have tested all of the main ones I'm interested in, before deciding on which inks I will be getting next. I will be comparing those colors, and I've been taking notes on them too.

Now you've got some inks ordered... perhaps you'd care to try them out writing letters in February (InCoWriMo)!

I didn't even know what InCoWriMo was. I had to look it up. It sounds admirable, but there is no way I could do that at this time. It would be cool to write with people from different places. I don't have enough going on here to write about though.

KKay, you would be surprised how much there is to talk about in a letter. Besides it is a great "excuse" to use your pens and ink.

The ink order was still in Virginia yesterday. Ugh. I knew it might be slower because of the winter storm. But it didn't depart VA until early this morning. It was 2 day priority. I sometimes find priority is no faster than regular mail.

So reading through this... I think what you have is akin to the common cold. It may seem huge at first, because it always feels supremely awful when it hits you full force. Then it morphs itself then it turns in pneumonia. I think I have Pneumonia.

    At last count...
193 : The number of colors on my list
    135 : The number of colors sampled/tried
35 : The number of bottles I own
12: The number of bottles the other half owns

And that count was last modified in November and I have added a few colors since then (namely the Diamine Shimmertastics)!
I think most of your list in my compilation. I'll send you a PM later with what of your list I have

Also, dA Tobacco is scented. It does not smell like dry tobacco leaves. It smells like the Tobacco Flower from The Body Shop. It has a slight cooling effect on the nose when scented and has a nice warm tone to it. However, I thought it was a bit flat, which might be a good thing if you are aiming for something professional looking.

If you want something similar, but with more body/interest, I second whoever suggested MB Toffee Brown, or Stipula Sepia. Both of them are a bit darker, shades a bit more (though nothing as drastic as Noodler's Apache Sunset), and have a bit of a warmer tone. I might have those two in sample vials that I would be willing to part with.

Well they must have read my message! The package is already out for delivery. I am trying to patiently wait for it. Naimitsu, I have samples in this order. I have been able to cut my list down somewhat. After I try these samples out, it will surely help narrow it even further.
INK SAMPLE - Diamine Sherwood Green
    IS-D7074
INK SAMPLE - Pelikan Edelstein Jade
    IS-P339374
INK SAMPLE - J. Herbin Rose Cyclamen
    IS-H130-66
INK SAMPLE - J. Herbin Lierre Sauvage
    IS-H130-37
    INK SAMPLE - Diamine Turquoise
    IS-D7003
INK SAMPLE - Diamine Sargasso Sea
    IS-D7100
    INK SAMPLE - Diamine Syrah
    IS-D7076
    INK SAMPLE - Diamine Claret
    IS-D7006

I wanted to try MontBlanc Irish Green, but it was not for sale, where I bought these samples.

These I believe are the only samples I still have not tried, or have ordered yet. The Pilot Yama-budo was an oversight. I don't know how I missed not ordering that one.

Sailor-Miruai (dark green, seaweed indigo, dark blue green), Tokiwa-matsu (pine green), Yama-dori (copper pheasant/teal), Oku-yama (maroon/burgundy)

If you like Sargasso Sea, let me know. I have a mostly full bottle that needs a new home.
I don't think anyone samples out MB inks. I don't know if it is on MB's insistence or what, but I have had to resort to trolling the FPN archive for the ones that interested me.
And I have a bottle of the MB Irish Green. I can send you a sample of it if you like. Just PM me your address
