Pelikan 400 Clip

What clip is on this pen? It is definitely not the 400 clip, but I'm not sure if it's from a 140, 400n or perhaps, nonsensically as the crown diameter should not match, a 400nn... Could this have been a factory replacement? Were some late production 400s actually shipped with the newer clips?

I think this is the correct clip for this pen. Commonly on Pelikan 400, the clip ring is not flush with the cap tube.
If you need to know exactly, there should be a tiny imprint on the back of the clip.

My thinking it was not was based on the 'beak tip's shape, which is pointier than those on other 400s I've owned or seen.

Now, I know what you mean...

...maybe a replacement clip from a 400N, but really hard to say.
