Default Twsbi diamond or century 3776?

I need your help, I can't decide between the diamond or the century. Any pros and cons would be greatly appreciated.

Which do you prefer and why?

Platinum has been around for a long time.

I haven't used either for quite a long time but the Platinum nib was better when I did.

TWSBI Diamond: piston filler, larger ink capacity, lower feedback steel nib. Anywhere from $10-$130 cheaper, depending on the model of TWSBI you get and where you purchase the Platinum ($10-$30 cheaper if you buy it from Japan, $100-$130 cheaper if you get it from a licensed USA retailer).

Platinum: Gold nib with some pleasant (at least to me) feedback. Pricing was already covered above. Cartridge/converter pen that uses Platinum-proprietary cartridges and converters, though an adapter for standard international cartridges is available fairly inexpensively. Being a C/C pen, the ink capacity is smaller.

I own both and like both, but for different reasons. I bought my Platinum from Japan (actually an Amazon reseller who gets them from Japan and charges roughly the Japanese price), but I wouldn't pay the full USA price for it. If I had to pay full USA price, it's almost a no-brainer to get the Diamond. At the Japanese price, it's much trickier, and I ended up getting both because their pros and cons result in me using them in different manners.

So I ordered a platinum 3776 century broad nib from japan. I plan on ordering the diamond in March when they release the green one.

I've found that if you're patient, many popular pens show up on the sale forum or on r/pen_swap eventually... Saves some money over MSRP. Though I guess they're not new and minty, but pens aren't new and minty after I use them a bit anyway.

My first 3776 (Thanks Bluesea!) is on it's way... Supposedly arriving on Saturday, which isn't a work day, so I'll probably get it on Monday. I'm so excited! (I fully intend on calling the post office to see if I can pick it up sooner LOL)

I have purchased 3 new. My metropolitan (first fp), then monteverde K2 ( got it from fph for $50 on sale) and my 3776 century that I got for less than $90 shipped. I've gotten 2 esties, ink samples and a Lamy nexx thanks to the other members on here selling them.

Isn't horrible? I keep checking for the email stating my order has shipped. Even though I purchased it late last night.

Bluesea was extremely generous in sending me ink samples.

I have bought most of my "good" pens on the forum. I think my first ever purchase was from Mike Hosea (a Platinum 3776), and I still have it and love it. There are a lot of reliable sellers on this list.

Yes, totally agree with Lady Onogaro. I have bought many pens here and for relatively cheap prices.

Regarding your choice, depends how big is your hand, the Platinum 3776 is a great pen, but some people would feel it is tad small for their hands. The TWSBI on other hand is bigger, and more comfortable for bigger hands.
Depends, whether you want a Converter / piston filler....
Depends, on the price you have a chance to grab one or another.
I have both, and am happy with either.
Just an advice, if you like stub nibs, you rather search for a Pendleton BLS nib on the TWSBI... the nibs are amazing!!! I have 2 and am very happy with those. However, these TWSBI with Pendleton nib will cost you more.

    Just my 2 cents.

I have both these pens. VASTLY prefer the 3776. No contest for me. Much as I enjoy the TWSBI.

Beginning yesterday I've been putting in more time with my Bourgogne 3776 fine, modded to write a bit more wet. The tactile and audible feedback is extremely gratifying. Its turning me into a feedback junkie.

In terms of flashiness, the 580 wins hands down.

But on writing experience and overall quality, the 3776 is on a different level.

I have both and enjoy them very much. In my opinion, they both are pens everyone should have, both reasonably priced and exquisite.

I have had a twsbi diamond in italic for a year now and love it. I have had no issues with it and it is a very smooth writer. You are sure to enjoy it.

I have a TWSBI Diamond 580 USA (fine nib) and a Platinum 3776 Century (Bourgogne, medium nib). They are both great pens. For me, the Platinum is truly extraordinary. It has an extremely nice nib. By the way, the medium nib on my Platinum is one of the finest (as in really skinny line fine) nibs I own.

I just got a Platinum 3776, and I love it. I don't post it. Un-posted it felt a little short, but still very enjoyable once I got used to it. Posted it felt unbalanced for some reason. The nib and beauty of the pen are just sweet though! ( 2 of my pens I post. 2 pens I do not post. )
