Default What arrangements have you made for your pens in your estate?

I'm not planning on kicking the bucket any time soon, but in thinking ahead, I have realized that there is no one in my near or extended (or very extended) family that has a clue about fountain pens. Now, aside from the two family-derived vintage pens that I recently acquired, I have nothing that's worth all that much (<$100, the most expensive), but nevertheless it got me wondering what I should specify about my pens and inks in my will, the next time I revise it.

What arrangements have you all made for your peniferous and inkilicious goodness in your estates?

I haven't even thought about it. I figure it's not my problem. But your question has got me to thinking what I might do.

Yeah, me too. I haven't given it any thought but seeing this did get me to thinking.

Both my sons are pen collectors and have way better pens than I do. I'm leaving mine to my grandchildren.

The family pens, are labled and those get passed on.
The problem is the younger generation look at a fountain pen like it was a 'model T.' So they are unlikely to use it.

My daughter (about to be twelve) help me with the spreadsheet that tallies up every single pen purchase (and sale) that I made.
She has a pretty good idea what my pen collection is worth, even in its minuscule scale at the moment (compared to some "real" collector's)

My OH has already said that if I go first he will sell all of my jewellery, pens and ink in order to recoup some of what I've spent. I have no-one in my family who would appreciate pens and ink.

I'll leave the lot to my partner if I go first but if I don't there isn't anyone in the family who would appreciate my pens and inks. I was actually thinking that I'd like to share everything between my pen pals. At least I know they'll use the inks..... The pens they may keep or sell.

I have a notebook with one pen per page. (Apica dot grid A5) When I get a pen I research it, record who I bought it from, when, & price. I be sure to put LE or rare and other information. I add any other learning's as time goes on. Good for reference and if I go whoever has to deal with them, all the info is there. Probably nieces will inherit unless I am so poor in old age I am forced to liquidate. It has been interesting researching pens (after buying tho' is probably not the time?).

Mine will go to my partner if I die first, otherwise they'll go to our daughter, who'll inherit everything anyway. She has 3 FPs and I think she'd keep a couple (& some inks) and definitely all my unused notebooks. This has got me thinking and I now plan to log my pens to give her a sense of the value and to also ensure she knows which were my favourites (as I know she'll want to keep them).

I am taking my collection with me, well you never know, may need to send a letter!

It is the rest of my estate for which I need to make arrangements.

This is my kids' problem, not mine, but I suspect they'll mostly end up being brought as a donation to goodwill...

A few years back I realized I had put just too much money into my collection, and none of my daughters seem to have interest in pens. So I started selling, slowly, without any haste, trying to recoup my investment. I will keep just a few favorites until I pass away.
