    Default Nemosine singularity first impressions

This pen is 15 dollars. I want to start there. I was not expecting much. Maybe the quality of my waterman kultur. I opened this up to realize it feels way more quality then my Pilot CH74. The nib is a bit feedbacky but not scratchy. I plan on working on the nib maybe a tad increase flow. But I am really blown away. The guy who owns nemosine is also local so I like supporting him. It's really an amazing pen, I will spend some time with it and report back! Please ask questions if you have any

I have the same pen with the 0.6 nib. I purchased the clear body. Looks like you have a smoked version? I like the narrow stub. Thus far I have only run Edelstein Aventurine in mine.
I have been thinking of purchasing another, either the 0.8 stub or the EF.

As soon as you said "local" I had to do some more research. A Pittsburgh boy! Now I feel like I should be supportive (I was born in Indiana, PA and have family in Latrobe.) Plus I like the science-y feel to the website.

I have two of these and I agree they are very good pens for the money. Seems xfountainpens now carries many more colors than when I bought mine. I love the fact they also offer many nib sizes, which is unusual for pens at this price point. For some reason, the model rarely comes up when people ask for cheap pen recommendations.

    Good short review, Mike.

I too often wonder why these pens are not more popular. I really like the shape of the top of the cap, especially on your demonstrator.

Thanks for the review, Mike. Love the size and light weight of the Nemos. I have...four? In different colors and nib sizes. Bought two more as gifts. My very favorite, the ivory F, has deveoped cracks around the cap lip. It's not the first time I've heard of cracking issues, but the first time it happened to me.
My other pen is a Montblanc.

I have the clear, the purple, and the transparent purple. They are okay pens. My transparent ones have developed cracks along the cap lip, too. I had at least one bum nib, but I replaced it with a Goulet nib. Now that I know more about pens and nibs, I might go back and replace the Goulet nib and see if I can get the old Nemosine nib to working.

My black one has a couple of very tiny cracks on the cap, but I need a loupe to see them so far. I've tried a couple of nibs on mine; I find it runs dry. I have a Fission also, which seems to be an entirely unrelated pen with no design characteristics in common besides the branded nib.

The way I 'discovered' the cap crack...AND leak around the clip...was Catastrophic Cart Failure, with a dark green ink.

    Ouuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch!

Are these little cracks stress cracks in the plastic, or no clue what causes them?

I've heard of them before which is why I've never gotten one of these pens, but a shame, as I need light pens and these seem like a good bet to try.

I would only be guessing. But they really are very comfortable to write with, and all those nib choices....

I used to have one of those.

Very pretty with a 2-tone Goulet 1.5 in it.

Absolutely hated the 0.8 it came with very dry and draggy, but simply swapping the nib for the goulet one and it was a smooth writer with good flow.

But while it hasn't affected me while I owned it, these were the stress cracks right out of the box (happens on the colored models too but you just can't see them that well)

I heard from the new owner about maybe 9 months after I had it for about 10 months, that some of the lip started chipping off on them.

I have a black one and a brown one and I've just checked them with a loupe. No cracks. Luck of the draw, I guess. Even if they do end up cracking, I will have gotten a lot of writing done, over a number of years, for 15 bucks per pen. And I'll still have the nibs and the converter.
For a while there, with all this cracking business, I thought this thread had morphed into a TWSBI-oriented one!

I had dry nib issues when I used my Nemosine for the first time, sort of gave up on it from the frustration. Will try again at some point with a wetter ink. Anyone else find it a dry writer?
I remember googling when I ran into the ink issues and saw people mention the cracks. When I looked closely at mine it had those mini cracks around the band too! 😢 but I figure I would have not noticed them without someone else pointing them out and 15 dollar pen - tis OK. I am at peace with that.
Appearance wise I love this pen. Great look for the money and the butterfly on the nib - I adore that touch.

Yes...they ARE dry writers. I pretty much have shimmed all of them. My Medium is now a gusher.

The only thing keeping me from getting one more is the cap-cracking issue.

The cracking issues is on the demonstrators only. The metal pens are flawless same with the opaque resin from my experience. I'm going to let them know about the micro cracks but out of the 3 demos I now have all with micro cracks non seem to spread. Sometimes feeds do need re adjusted or deepend for a wetter effect. I like dry writers for school work tho!

As I continue to speak with josh at nemosine I'll update you guys. It's a great local company. This guy loves pens and loves the pen community!

What material are the sections made of on the metal pens?

I had been thinking about the pen, but was turned away by the cracking issue.
    Maybe that has been solved?

I just checked their web site, and the 0.6 and 0.8 nibs seem to be unavailable.
