    Cool SIR's ink anthology...

    I am somewhat addicted to blending inks from my collection, I will share some of my recipes here.

    Leonardo Da Vinci Red Chalk after Montblanc
    Two parts each of the following;
    Platinum Pigment Rose Red
    Organics Studio Mercury
    to one part
    Sailor Four Seasons Oku-Yama

    The ink is stable but use of pigment requires more frequent and careful cleaning of pen parts - use at own risk.

    ldv2.jpg

    I consider this to be a closer idea of Da Vinci's ink and is more red than the Montblanc original; however, if a closer match to Montblanc's still beautiful ink is required, one might try adding a half part of Diamine Sunset.

    Twinkling Terracotta
    Equal parts of the following;
    Louis Vuitton Brun Ténébreux
    Platinum Pigment Rose Red
    Diamine Shimmertastic Golden Sands

    The ink is stable but use of shimmer requires more frequent and careful cleaning of pen parts - use at own risk.

    Imperial Purple
    Equal parts of the following;
    Platinum Pigment Rose Red
    Visconti Turquoise
    Sailor Shigure
    Pelikan Edelstein Amethyst

    The ink is very much waterproof on paper and stable in the bottle, but use of pigment requires more frequent and careful cleaning of pen parts - use at own risk.

    Imperial Blue
    Equal parts each of the following;
    Platinum Pigment Rose Red - http://www.gouletpen...at-InkG-1500-20
    Visconti Turquoise - http://www.gouletpen...ttle/p/VI-A3025

    The ink is stable, but use of pigment requires more frequent and careful cleaning of pen parts - use at own risk.

    Observe the water fastness test resulted in the turquoise being washed out and the red remaining.

    Sheaffer Skrip Red + Waterman Purple; some say in equal parts, other say more purple than red.

    Be adventurous and use your imagination, use only very small amounts of ink (0.5ml each), you must be patient and leave the mixture sealed for at least 24/48 hours (if not a week) to ensure no adverse chemical reactions before use.

    Also, bear in mind it is easier to make a light colour darker than a dark colour lighter; add smaller amounts of darker colours to larger amounts of lighter colours.

    Cool Re: SIR's world famous blended ink recipes!

    Green Grey
    Three parts Hieronymus Green No. 3
    to one part Montblanc Oyster Grey

    Tiger Green
    Three parts Hieronymus Green No. 3
    to one equal part each of KWZ IG Green #3 and Montblanc Oyster Grey

    Both the inks are stable, but the use of Iron Gall in Tiger Green could require more frequent and careful cleaning of pen parts - use at own risk.

    Great thread, Sir, thank you.

    Someone had given me a recipe for Leonardo's: 50 / 50 Diamine Ochre, and Burnt Sienna. Not Leonardo, at all. But very close to the old Pelikan 4001 Brown.

    I will probably try to add some Platinum Igment Rose Red, and see the result.

    There was a rumour that OS would return to ink making, not sure when that was supposed to be or what happened.
