Made by Parker UK and an excellent design with a nib unit that is easy to take apart for maintenance. The only potential issue with the screw cap is cracking caused due to over tightening by heavy handed two fisted school boys.

Superb page of script, a lesson to us all.

I’m surprised no one has pounced on this 👇🏻👇🏻, has anyone ever come across a 'screw cap' genuine 45. ??

I have several Parker 45's though I now only tend to look for Coronet examples. Not one of my Parker 45's has a screw cap. That doesn't mean I know why your pen has a screw cap because I don't know enough about Parker 45's to comment on if there was ever one issued or if there was a smilier pen manufactured with a screw cap.

Firstly, are you certain that it is a 45 and not a 1970 or so onwards Slimfold which had the same nib unit and clip as the 45 but sold at a lower price because there were no internals to the cap.

You can still see screw cap Slimfolds at pen shows that are new and unused.

The colour of your pen would suggest Slimfold and not 45 but the acid test is the length, the 45 is 136mm and the Slimfold is 128mm.

The 'Slimfold' then is Top, and a 45 bottom. There are differences.

So…this slimfold I have is easily as nice to use as the 45s and the lack of cap clutch etc doesn’t detract from its writing at all !!
It’s a bit like the difference between the 51 and 21 …..there’s really nothing in it ! I have 21s that write nicer than my 51s , and they feel pretty much similar in the hand…I guess a few milligrams of weight and a few dollars less fits into a 'market niche' that would otherwise have been missed ?
There’s quite a few Slimfolds on the bay, but they don’t do you any favours on price for them !!! Which is …odd

I think what always threw me…was the later model Parker , which often gets called simply Slimfold , and has an exposed nib , was actually called a Duofold slimfold !? and the 45 lookalike was called a 'new Slimfold'

It seems to have gotten a bit confusing with the Duofold/ Slimfold/ names after the 45 period …same with all the different names for the 45 ……Arrow/ special/ deluxe/ etc Not to mention the made up names that sellers sometimes put on pens 🤣🤣

And don’t get me started on Rare / super rare/ etc

I used a Parker IM Special Edition Midnight Astral earlier today. I like its medium nib. I currently have a plain ole black cartridge in it which I’m using up so that I can load it with other inks instead.

I wrote with a UK Duofold Maxima in black. It has a medium nib and writes wonderfully well. It's filled with Blue/Black by Diamine. I also used a Duofold Vacumatic (senior?) in green.

Parker Lucky Curve ringtop with clip, gold filigree, awesome condition. Sometime around 1914.

    PARKER 51 (early 40s)
My father in law gave me his old P51 and I sent it to Tim @Parker51 for overhaul.
While I never liked the aesthetics of the 51, I recognize this is a wonderful EDC pen.
