A pretty color in a 51.
Waterman Tender Purple in a black Aero 51 with possibly the smoothest nib in the universe.
I have found that several 51 pens I have are smoother than any other type of pen I have, including Montblanc, Pelikan and Waterman. Most of the 51s I have are sublime, whether octanium or 14K, on demi or full size vintage 51s. I have really noticed the superior smoothness of the 51 nibs lately, after putting away most of my other pens. Except for Esterbrook. I don't usually use pens made before 1948, when the 51 aero came out.

51 I bought new 50 years ago, midnight blue, medium.
Parker 51 aerometric, midnight blue, frosted cap, US medium. Tuned exactly to my taste by Greg Minuskin. My favorite pen.
I was using today another midinght blue 51 aerometric with a sublime Minuskin stub.
From yesterday, but oh well, close enough

Ah, since you ask: a 51 Special with a fine-to-medium Octanium nib, which is too fine for me on many papers, but pleasant on really smooth although somewhat absorbent papers. Needing less of a qualified description, a 51 Demi Special with a generous medium Octanium nib that just writes in the most satisfactory way. Pelikan 4001 black in both pens.
P-51 vac, dark blue, stacked-coin cap, juicy medium nib. One of my three favorite pens.
Parker Insignia, red, goldlike cap, medium. The cap is some kind of gold plated. I like these, but just sold 2 on ebay. They work well with a Sonnet section and nib .

Tonight... a Parker 45 Flighter (1964~1970) with a Medium before I switched over to an XF nib. As well as a Lucky Curve (pre-duofold) Jade.
Today a Vector loaded with Waterman Tender Purple.

A forest green 51 with a gold filled cap that I bought yesterday for $4. The ink was already in the sac, so I’ve no idea what it is, but it’s a nice shade of blue-black. I have a ton of research to do on 51s, I have a Special that I found at a rummage sale in Vermont 20 years ago that’s a great writer, but I haven’t gotten into the different years and whatnot yet with these.

Today, a Parker 21 Super in black with medium nib.
Newbie here and I fired up a new-to-me Vector rollerballl. I don't know what it is... I have "better" pens but today I saw it and said what the heck. It is something about the way my life was going when I first discovered (and could afford) the Vector...it gives me warm feelings. A dependable thing in a changing world? Yes, I thought about it this much![]()
