Waterman Tender Purple in a black Aero 51 with possibly the smoothest nib in the universe.

I have found that several 51 pens I have are smoother than any other type of pen I have, including Montblanc, Pelikan and Waterman. Most of the 51s I have are sublime, whether octanium or 14K, on demi or full size vintage 51s. I have really noticed the superior smoothness of the 51 nibs lately, after putting away most of my other pens. Except for Esterbrook. I don't usually use pens made before 1948, when the 51 aero came out.

Parker 51 aerometric, midnight blue, frosted cap, US medium. Tuned exactly to my taste by Greg Minuskin. My favorite pen.

Ah, since you ask: a 51 Special with a fine-to-medium Octanium nib, which is too fine for me on many papers, but pleasant on really smooth although somewhat absorbent papers. Needing less of a qualified description, a 51 Demi Special with a generous medium Octanium nib that just writes in the most satisfactory way. Pelikan 4001 black in both pens.
