Default The riddle of "what the pink pelikan had in it's guts?"

In an stationary fountain pen cleanup – mostly 80-90s cheap fountain pens. I found a couple of Pelikans.
    One was this pink awesomeness:

It's a pink pelikan with a pink screw on cap. At the top of the cap you can see this amazing transparent pink dome that let you see the nib.

The pink section is transparent too and shows you the white feed.

I couldn't find this pink pen model anywhere. I presume it's marketed towards the business gentlemen –bank managers and such– as it has a very classic, elegant, sober and relaxing pink look.

To answer the "riddle" that lays in this pink wonder guts, I will show you the picture of what I found. Tough it is pretty obvious, don't you think?:

It's the classic brass cartridge-shaped cylinder we all know and learnt to love.

It's purpose it's obvious. It's for do that thing... you know. That think with the thing! Brilliant', isn't it?
(PLEASE, SOMEONE TELL ME WHAT IS THAT FOR!!! OH PLEASE!)

Well, that' all for my first post. I hope this post will help someone (me, for example) to know more about this manly pink writing instrument.

    Best regards.

(I edited this post trying to solve the problem with posting images from google photos. I hope this works and you can see the images now.)

I wonder if it's something like the cartridge cover that the Pilot VP pens come with? To keep the cartridge in place? Other than that I can't think of a use for it. Either it's supposed to be there to keep the cartridge in it's correct position, or it was nothing to do with the pen in the first place.

I tried to use it to keep the cartridge in place but there is enough tolerance to let it slip out of it's place.
And this brass thing it's just like a cartridge, I mean, you can insert it in the place of a cartridge. Is not made from thin brass. It's hollow but quite thick, with 3 steps from wider to thinner.
I think it's some kind of adapter but for what... I don't know.

Other possibility is that wasn't meant to be in that fountain pen to begin with. Maybe it's something from the shop and someone forgot it inside.

If your cartridges are tight and don't come out into the barrel, then I suspect it should never have been with this pen.

The pen is a Pelikan 2000. I have one in blue.

I'm glad to see that my Pelikan m600 pink has such classy, conservative and tasteful forebears.

    Isn't pink the new black?
