I have several sketchbook tried already, and I‘m still in the search and try phase.
The two that I really like so far are:
Winsor & Newton 170g/m2 A5 which I use for the Dojo sketches.
It is white, not too smooth but still smooth, it gives dry media a good grip.
This is my preferred one for dry media.
It can also handle a wash if needed.
and second
Strathmore 400 Toned Gray 80lb (118 g/m2) 5.5 x 8.5 inch
It is gray with some fiber texture, smoother than the Winsor & Newton and even it is quite thin it can handle a lot of water and several washes.
It corrugates a bit when it is wet but not bad, the overall performance is amazing for such a thin paper.
It is my favorite sketchbook for ink and ink washes.
Also like that it is toned as white highlights really pop on the toned paper.
I just finished my first book and started today with the „swollen“ sketch a new one.
